How Large Is an Average Yorkie?

Yorkies are small dogs that can range in size from about 4 to 7 pounds. While they may be small, Yorkies can still grow quite large. Some Yorkies may reach up to 15 pounds or more. Because of this, they’re ideal for families with little children, as they will not be able to easily knock the dog over.

Yorkies are also a good choice for people who live in small apartments or homes, as they usually do not need a lot of space. However, it is important to note that Yorkies can be very active dogs, so they may not be the best choice for people who are looking for a low-maintenance pet.

When Do Yorkies Stop Growing?

Yorkie puppies will reach their full size by around 10 to 12 months old. However, they may continue to grow in height and weight until they are 18 months old. This is the average age at which Yorkies reach their final size, but some may grow a little bit more and others may not grow as much.

At full size, Yorkies typically weigh between four and seven pounds. They are usually about eight to nine inches tall at the shoulder. However, there is a lot of variation in size within the breed. Some Yorkies may be larger or smaller than average.

So, how can you tell if your Yorkie puppy is on track to reach their full size? The best way to estimate a puppy’s adult size is to look at their parents’ sizes. If both of the parents are standard-sized Yorkies, then the puppy is likely to be around average size.

In the case that one or both of the parents are smaller or larger than average, then the puppy may also be smaller or larger than average. Of course, there are always exceptions to this rule and some puppies may not fit the mold.

Generally speaking, female Yorkies tend to be slightly smaller than males. However, we have to admit there is no guarantee whatsoever that this will be the case with your puppy.

The simplest way to get an idea of how big your Yorkie will eventually be is to talk to your veterinarian. They will be able to give you a more accurate estimate based on the puppy’s current size and growth rate.

The second stage of Yorkie growth is the transitional stage, which lasts from 4-8 weeks old. During this stage, the Yorkie will start to eat solid food and lose his baby teeth. He will also start to play more and be more active.

The third stage of Yorkie growth is the juvenile stage, which lasts from 12-24 weeks old. During this stage, the Yorkie will reach his full size and continue to grow his adult coat. He will also start to bark during this stage.

The fourth and final stage of Yorkie growth is the adult stage, which begins at around 18 months old. During this stage, the Yorkie’s coat will stop growing and he will reach his full weight. He will become less active during this stage as he enters adulthood.
