Useful Dog Grooming Hacks That Really\nWork Wonders<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Grooming your dog is extremely important, but it\u2019s also quite\ndifficult. And for those of us on a tight budget, professional grooming isn\u2019t\nalways the best option either. But don\u2019t worry, you can still keep your dog\nlooking beautiful and well-kept, all by yourself.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m the proud owner of a mischievous Pomeranian called Nala and\nI\u2019ve been grooming her at home since 2017.  And based on all the daily\ncompliments she gets, I can safely say that she looks absolutely fabulous. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I\u2019ve decided to share my special canine grooming wisdom with you. Keep reading to find out some amazing and simple dog grooming hacks that I follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cornstarch\nCan Detangle, Degrease and Whiten Fur<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to DIY dog grooming, cornstarch is a Godsend. Many\nof us have no idea that a simple ingredient like this can be of so much use.\nDid you know how it\u2019s useful for grooming your dog?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn\u2019t either until I decided to try one of those Pinterest\nhacks. And boy, was I glad! Cornstarch is now a fixed part of my dog brushing routine. It\u2019s also very inexpensive and easily available, making it a great DIY dog grooming product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before brushing my dog, I always make sure to put some on the\ntangled hair. The cornstarch actually works to detangle and loosen the mess, making brushing so much easier.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also sprinkle it on her fur every week to keep away grease and\nbrighten her fur. This way Nala stays clean and smells fresh even between\nbaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coconut\nOil is a Wonderful Canine Moisturizer<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Coconut oil is all the rage now for the beauty world. But it\u2019s\nalso quite popular amongst dog parents because it\u2019s an excellent moisturizer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now I\u2019ll admit, it never actually struck me to moisturize my dog\u2019s\npaws. But the last time I went to the local groomer, I was told to take better\ncare Nala\u2019s paws. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I initially thought it would involve some sort of expensive canine\nmoisturizing product, but the groomer suggested using coconut oil. And trust me\nthis, this was a total game changer! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I always put on some coconut oil on Nala\u2019s paw pads and even her\nnose. This prevents them from getting all dry, scaly and itchy. It also serves\nas enjoyable massage therapy for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Tired\nand Distracted Dog is Easier to Groom<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Grooming dogs can be quite a challenge, especially when it\ninvolves tasks like hair clipping, nail trimming or bathing. Luckily, over the\nyears I\u2019ve learned that a tired dog is a lot more cooperative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, before any intense grooming activity, I make sure I\u2019ve taken\nNala on an hour-long walk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If that\u2019s not possible, I try to at least play with her for 30\nminutes before the grooming session. This way all her energy is expended and\nshe\u2019s too tired to resist. In fact, I also try to distract Nala whenever I\u2019m grooming\nher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I keep the television on when I\u2019m trimming her nails, and that has really worked at calming her down. Sometimes I even smear peanut butter on the bathroom walls when I\u2019m giving her a bath. This works like a charm! She\u2019s too busy licking at the walls to focus on running\naway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dental\nChews and Supplements Improve Oral Hygiene<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brushing your dog\u2019s teeth regularly is obviously the only way to\ngive it the best dental care. But we all know brushing daily is not always\nrealistic. In that case, there are still some other things you can do to keep\nthose doggy teeth looking clean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I personally like to use dental chews between brushing sessions\nbecause they keep Nala\u2019s breath smelling fresh.  These chews contain\nenzymes that also work to keep away plaque from her teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve also started adding dental supplements to Nala\u2019s water. This\nis just an extra measure I take so I don\u2019t have to stress out over brushing\nevery day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final\nThoughts<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Of course, there are several in-depth grooming guides all over the\ninternet that you can look into. I assumed that you already know the basics of\ngrooming, so I didn\u2019t bore you with all of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the tips that you\u2019ve read are all tried and tested.\nThey\u2019re also religiously followed by yours truly and a number of my dog owner\nfriends. So, feel free to take my advice, because it will make your life a lot\neasier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
