(C)If your cat is lost, QUICKLY use what applies to YOUR situation/area: Place their used blanket, used litter outside and clothing with your scent so they can find their way back. Check SHEDS, GARAGES: people may open them once a week to do gardening/cat goes in and is trapped. Look up TREES, under decks, under garbage bins, tarps, under all vehicles/boats/barns, A.C. units, in woodpiles. Check roof! Check pools/pool covers. CHECK WINDOW SILLS /window wells under grates. Check between adjoining fences. Cats are masters at hiding, may be scared. Check your neighbours' sheds & garages, decks, porches. Give neighbours a flyer. **Look at dusk or first light. Take a Flashlight with you, cats' eyes will reflect back at you.** Take a poster to animal services /call them every day /twice a day . Go look yourself; they may identify a male cat as a female at shelters. Put a large sign on your front lawn. Put up Legible, flyers with the date (in clear sheet protectors) also** put a flyer in neighbours' mailboxes down/across your street.** Not everyone uses the internet** Put up visible posters with the date at post boxes, bus shelters, intersections, humane societies, vet clinics, groomers, grocery stores, in your car window, post office. Call rescues/feral colony caretakers. Kitty might not be very far away OR your cat may have jumped on a truck or trailer and be miles away. Using a flashlight, check under decks & sheds, in corners, under trailers/ bins. Construction sites are VERY dangerous. Rattle a bag of treats/speak softly. Cats may get trapped under decks or in a wall/ceiling. (Recently, lost cats were found UNDER DECKS, under refrigerators, UNDER BARBEQUES, in trees, in wood piles, LOCKED IN A SHED, under a hockey net, LOCKED IN A GARAGE, tangled in a fishing net, on a window sill, under a trailer , in a neighbour's basement, in the ATTIC, in a WALL, in a sofa, in a lazy susan, trapped in underbed storage, in a suitcase and in a neighbour's car. A cat crawled into a mattress and was driven to a warehouse where she was found.) Let us know when your pet is home/remove posters.
