Sandy Sparling Put his carrier outside along with something with your scent on it. Cats don't generally travel far and are usually found hiding 7-10 houses away - take a flyer with note door-to-door asking neighbours to check their sheds/garages/under decks and door cams. Posters up for blocks in every direction as many people are not on social media. Use a flashlight to check under porches/decks/covered BBQs/bushes and up in trees his eyes will reflect in the light. Leave your door open slightly (secure any other pets in a room) as he may walk himself home/in. When searching/calling, only call when walking homeward so he doesn't follow you further away; when at home call every 10-15 minutes. If not chipped contact all area vets/animal hospitals, if someone finds him they are likely to take to be scanned for a chip - the staff will know to watch for him, ensure you check the OHS lost/found site several times a day and call them every 2-3 days. Sorry to hear your kitty is missing. Your cat is nearby probably on your property scared and hiding. Put out worn clothing of the cat’s favourite human. Clothing has to be worn so that kitty can pick up on the scent. Also include cat bed or a blanket anything with the cat’s scent outside. Leave a window or the garage door slightly open so that kitty can find its way back inside the house. Be sure to secure other pets first. Go out at Dawn and Dusk especially with a flashlight and check underneath bushes, trees, cars, desks, patio furniture, sheds etc Let your neighbours know your cat is missing and ask for their permission to search their properties. Neighbours will not thoroughly search their properties or know where to look. Shake a bag of your cat’s favourite treats or food calling kitty’s name calmly. Look at every nook and cranny. Create flyers and hand out to your neighbours as well as post flyers in the neighbourhood and surrounding areas. If you can offer a reward it will encourage others to look for your kitty. Do don’t leave her litter box outside it will attract predators that will scare the cat away. If your cat is microchipped call the company and report the cat missing. Make sure your contact information is up to date. Report your cat missing to your local SPCA or Human Society. Go in person to your local SPCA /Humane Society and check out the kitties that were recently brought in. Follow the tips. Don’t waste any time starting your search. Start search as quickly as possible. Don’t give up hope. Just keep going out looking for your cat. Recheck your property and your neighbours and surrounding areas as many times necessary. Good luck.
