MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Please help us find our beloved cat who has been missing for a month. She has been spotted a few times in another neighborhood, some distance from her , but she is too spooked and wary for anyone to get close to her.. We believe she is unable to find her way on her own. She is an older cat with hyperthyroidism so she needs to come as soon as possible. We need the community's help locating her as she is most likely hiding in someone's backyard or looking for food from other cat owners who may leave food out for feral or stray cats in the neighborhood. She is attracted to other cats, and is normally very friendly but is wary now of people after being on her own for so long. If you see her please contact us, we are heartbroken that we have not been able to bring her yet but are hoping that if she is seen by someone they can leave food out for her so she will continue coming back and we can then trap her. Thank you for keeping an eye out for her

Last message today sent to you with ONLY LOVE in my heart...🐱💖🙏 Dear Guardian .....DON’T LOSE HOPE. 'Lost cat' JiJi was found after being lost for 4 MONTHS! Cats don't go far they remain near......Continue to call for kitty - ESPECIALLY at night 10pm-6am..set your alarm for 11pm, 2am, 5am ...walk around the block and call for kitty ... If your neighborhood isn't already plastered with flyers , PRINT more flyers and add or replace flyers - IMPORTANT: knock on neighbors doors AGAIN and REMIND them that your sweet kitty is still missing and ask them to check around especially at night especially..ask neighbors with RING cameras to check the footage in case kitty is spotted...whatever you do, do NOT lost hope...keep searching and spreading the word with your neighbors door to door - they need to be reminded kitty is still out there and many many cats are found long after they are lost - we are still early in this… **IMPORTANT** PLACE A CAMERA (motion activated with night vision) aimed at WET food in bowl every day and night. ( you can buy amazon) ..OFTEN cats remain near but are in such survival mode - they will even act scared of their human's voice and won't come inside and need to be coaxed...Lost cat 'Luna' was spotted on camera after being 'lost' for several weeks, her human was shocked to learn Luna was visiting the backyard regularly late night and would come back inside (she was leaving the backdoor open for her) We thought she was stuck at a neighbors which happens all the time...and it was the help of the camera which helped her human learn about the different cats that would visit and other animals...she eventually spotted her 'live' in her backyard (she did a stake out just inside with a baby monitor) and was able to lure her back inside with food after several hours late night. I'm not saying this is your situation ...I'm saying that you can't rule anything out… WiFI Camera with night vision example https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07Z841XYD?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_TXPMEVSKHVVCW2PBGK0C listening to a podcast re; finding lost cats (episode 450 on 'The Community Cats podcast) and their advice about taking action right away and consistently....and along with late night/early morning calling out etc is getting permission from each neighbor near you to physically go into their yards to search and call for kitty (by yourself) to search under porches and anywhere they can possibly hide! Studies have proven Indoor cats remain near HIDING IN SILENCE and are mostly found within a few houses away from escape point and outdoor/indoor cats mostly within a 1 block radius...indoor cats that area scared remain near and in hiding until threshhold of hunger will make them come out of hiding to look for food though they will still continue to hide from humans...so it's important for their human to search daily/nightly and not to give up no matter what. They mentioned that sometimes when cats aren't coming back they may be ill and need medical attention so taking action to actively search in neighbors property is so important They also say that cat owners give up way too soon and cats end up at the shelter months down the road by getting trapped by a caring person - and those cats are NOT reclaimed because owners stop checking the shelters... GAIN ACCESS TO NEIGHBORS YARDS: Knock on your neighbors doors in ALL directions to ask for permission to check yards and around the premises so YOU can call for kitty today and tonight and early morning...scared cats will NOT come forward right away and they are excellent hiders! You have to keep trying this and explain to neighbors that cats protect themselves by hiding - even from their guardian - until THEY feel safe to come forward.... Check SFACC in person every 4 days🙏🙏they dont' show all their 'processed' cats online... (Borrowed the following from a caring neighbor Kaz on Nextdoor): In addition to what you're doing keep checking Animal Care & Control’s photo inventory of found cats in case someone has found the cat and turned it in. https://www.sfanimalcare.org/stray-found-cats/ Also, make sure that the cat’s microchip information is up-to-date. If you don’t have the cat’s microchip number, check with your vet who should have it in the cat’s records. In addition to updating wherever your cat’s chip was originally registered (or even if you don’t remember where you originally registered the chip), register your cat at the free Found Animals chip registry, https://www.foundanimals.org/microchip-registry/owners and the free pet chip registry, https://www.freepetchipregistry.com/ with your current contact information in order to increase the chances that if your cat is picked up, they can contact you. (I say increase the chances because sadly there are multiple databases for different chips and they are not all interconnected.) We had a sad story on Nextdoor about a lost cat ‘Gonzo’, who was found by ACC, but because the chip linked to outdated information, ACC couldn’t reach the owner, and they ultimately euthanized him because of medical issues. Sending you HOPE, LOVE and continued determination and perseverance damia (www.happycatlady com)🐱💖🙏

She is in YOUR neighborhood...if she normally goes out from the backyard - she could be stuck in someone's yard ...lost cat clementine was finally spotted after 29 days 1.5 yards away..after her guardian had spoken to every neighbor around the surrounding block twice...not saying she didn't go a little further out but she did not travel to another neighborhood - cat's do NOT do this. Last week Lost cat NINJA we finally found after 71 days missing! he indoor/outdoor cat and was STILL within the block!

I'm so sorry she's still missing. It's so important PLASTER THE neighborhood with MORE FLYERS on both sides of lampposts (place in clear protective sheet covers). Pawboost, facebook and nextdoor are great for support but small tiny percentage of folsk are seeing this post - and those in your neighborhood even smaller. You must go door to door distributing flyers and posting them up starting with your block (yes talk to neighbors again) and working outward keeping track which blocks so you are sure they are covered. Print 300 flyers - worth every dollar if it gets someone to spot her ...then you may have to trap her. YOUR flyers should ask folks to take a photo if they THINK they see her ...vs appraoching...this will also help in false sightings as there are MANY lost orange tabby's...also please keep checking online shelters and every 5 days IN PERSON as not all FOUND cats brought in are shown online...🐱💜

Please re-consider PLACING A CAMERA (motion activated with night vision) in front of a wet food bowl + water bowl .... you cannot believe how many times a cat will return home BUT has no way of getting back inside (or won't go back inside - is in survival mode) and the guardian has stopped going out at night so the cat disappears again...So Getting your cat on camera by luring Geri with Food is KEY ...Yes, you may see other cats, raccoons etc...keep replacing the WET food (raccoons LOVE dry cat food so wet is better) Be patient..it can take days/weeks for kitty to show up on camera...then you can trap . Buy a motion sensor camera on amazon over night: Here are 2 examples...one with wifi and the other one takes batteries so you can set it up anywhere - in case there is a good spot just past your wifi range - then these cameras work great - I have 2 of them and have spotted 'lost' cats MANY times and it changes everything ...💖💖💖💖💖🙏 WiFI Camera with night vision example: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07Z841XYD?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_TXPMEVSKHVVCW2PBGK0C&fbclid=IwAR0PtWT3nHSV-TYhf0gRjfxKMouo2f-rHVBN3iKwsKpKYB2olkNSmkFPN-M WIldlife camera wifi not needed / eight AA batteries: You have to manually check footage: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B099F54JJ4?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_T6Y056KTG9ZEENJKTW79&fbclid=IwAR1kv3aF1prrRH0OiilVTRVtf_puOVZW0wRA8OZu9244L25ppYbBzV7iY4s

🐱💜Your sweet senior is not in another neighborhood - these sightings are most likely other orange cats - there are many on each block - believe me cats do NOT leave their territory.... please don't lose hope - Geri is in YOUR neighborhood ....Right now It's still early and quiet.. walk around your block and CALL For kitty in a calm NORMAL voice(no stress in your voice) and then wait...repeat...keep calling over and over ...stop in one place for 5 minutes at a time... PLEASE Don't rely on folks seeing this post- You must let your neighbors know kitty is missing with FLYERS and no better way than to post around your neighborhood and by going door to door talking to your neighbor.! I've done this countless of times and neighbors have sometimes HAD the cat in their possession or they end up spotting the cat and calling me....cover ALL possibilities..TODAY PRINT 150 more FLYERS ...Talk to your neighbors and keep track on a printed map. NOTE: Even if a neighbor sees kitty outside they will assume kitty is indoor/outdoor and' ok' - not lost or missing - UNLESS they are notified in person /flyer! ONLINE posts only gets to those actively looking at lost/found pets which is very limited. The exact neighbors you want to reach are right there near you - if you haven't gone door to door with flyers and posted up flyers on every street corner and mid street - I would highly suggest doing this. Also, in case KITTY is stuck/trapped you want the flyers to ask folks to check crawl spaces, storage units, bats etc...Check FOUND cats online at your local shelters; if they don't have online website with lost cats posted daily then call them and/or visit especially if your cat is friendly with strangers as he could also be picked up and brought there (or kept at someones house). The point is to cover ALL Possibilities. Call for kitty during the day and especially at night 10pm-6am when it's dark + quiet - and you might be able to hear meow if kitty is stuck - this happens all the time. And leave a way for kitty to get back inside…please know that I am sending you this message with only LOVE in my heart... damia foti 650-339-6619 💖🙏
