MESSAGE FROM OWNER
Lucy has been lost for a few months. After we posted signs at Burke Lake, people found other turtles and thought they were Lucy. And that became a problem because people were handling native turtles. This species looks sort of like the native eastern box turtle (which also has orange on its shell, head, and legs). But Lucy has SOLID orange patches on her shell. This photo is a few months old, so she'll be bigger now, but still a small turtle. Judging from her brother (which we have), she'll be about 4 inches long, 2 inches high. Because she is tropical, she won't survive the winter. So, we will be ecstatic if you find her. Offering a $100 reward.
DESCRIPTION
Juvenile South American Red-Footed Tortoise (land turtle). Distinct from the native box turtle because the Red-Foot has SOLID ORANGE in each section (scute) of its shell.
