MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Momo is about 9 months - 1 year old. He is originally a stray cat that I met in September, but then he disappeared for a month. When he showed up again I started feeding him, cuddling with him, playing with him, and going on walks together. It felt like it was the perfect time for me to finally bring him in since it felt he trusted us, so I decided to take him to a Saturday low cost vaccine facility. Vaccinating him + microchipping him asap was necessary especially with the upcoming freeze. I repeated to the people at the facility that Momo is still very much a stray cat, and I thought this was enough for them to understand how skittish and fast they are with distrustful people, especially while he was scared due to new things (riding in a car, inside a carrier with the door closed, new people, new smells). But they didn't react or respond. The women who was in charge of vaccinating him stuck her finger inside his cage and was just laughing. I already felt uneasy because of how she was treating him like a regular hse pet like the previous customers. Then she grabbed a leash to put on him, and before she even finished readjusting the leash, she opened the door and continued to adjust the leash, and before I could even respond from the shock of why she went through those steps that way, he was already on the run. All she did was keep saying "This has never ever happened to me" and it just made me angrier. The whole time she was overconfident about everything and not once did they ever take into account that he was a stray cat. Even when we went running after him, I wanted to keep searching farther from where we last saw him (under some cars near the vaccine location) but she held me off and said that he was still under the cars and didn't leave. I wish I would have never listened to her and wasted 1 hour searching the cars. Again, a stray cat in fear would keep running farther and farther but they just kept treating him like he was a hse cat and would get scared by the outside environment. To top it all off, after an hour searching the entire parking lot we finally decided to look wider. When I got to the back of El rancho, the same girl who lost him said that she saw him behind some wooden crates and she approached him and it jumped all the way to the roof of El rancho... I can't even begin to understand what was going through her mind to think it was smart to approach him without notifying me she found him. I'm not even sure I believe her story that he managed to climb the roof of a tall building instead of running towards the trees, gates, or hses behind the shopping center. I just think she was trying to clean her hands and give us an "end" to the search because she knew we wouldn't be able to search the roof. I left some food and a towell with his smell in a box, but every time I've gone, morning and night, the food is all still there. The last real time I saw him with my own eyes was underneath a car in the parking lane before el rancho starts. I'm not even sure if he went behind the building or cross the street or somewhere else. Please...if you see him, reach out to me, and above all please offer him a warm place for him to stay during this winter freeze while I get there. Stay warm everyone
