Yes - please take kitty to a 24 hour Veterinary clinic and have it checked for a micro chip or tattoo. They can usually keep it until Animal Services can pick it up. At least it will be safe from coyotes - bobcats - cars - aggressive dogs and people. And hopefully it won't be getting pregnant.
