Report him as lost to animal control. Go to animal control (IN PERSON) as often as possible when they are open. Going in person is imperative because they can be overlooked or entered into the system incorrectly. When you go make sure to ask to see a list of all dogs in isolation or quarantine areas. Post on NextDoor and PetFBI (.org) PetFBI partners with Lost Dogs Georgia and has volunteers actively trying to match lost and found pet reports they receive. Post large neon signs all around the area, with a picture and contact info, as well as posting on Lost/Found pet pages in surrounding counties in case he roams. Flyers are great also but neon signs grab attention. Email local vets with his picture and your contact info in case anyone brings him in to be scanned or because he’s injured. And also put a large neon sign with his pic and your contact info on the inside window of your car so it can act as a mobile billboard, even if the contact info is just an email address created for this sole purpose. If microchipped, make sure all contact and address information is up to date. Please be wary of scammers! People may message you claiming to have your dog when they don't. Never send any kind of verification code and never send money. You may get comments with suggestions of a WhatsApp number to text for help or an Instagram profile link to visit for "dog trackers." These are scams as well. There are legitimate dog trackers and lost pet recovery specialists but these are not them. They sometimes claim they "want the money back" that they spent on the pup. Sometimes they even send pictures of a dog that looks nearly identical to yours but will put a filter on it so you cant do a reverse image search to discover it was a stock photo found online. They often use burner phones so they can't be traced. Good luck! 🙏🏼
