I hope you are reunited with your baby soon! This is a really good resource on searching for lost kitties. https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ Most often kitties that get lost are nearby. Search for all hiding spots near your location, check in and around your neighbors houses as well. Sometimes kitties get stuck or get scared by something and are unable to find their way back, so searching for hiding spots helps. Post flyers as mentioned in the website above and post them around your neighborhood. Walk around during quieter hours to look for them. Enlist the help of your neighbors. Please consider posting on PawBoost, Ring app, Facebook Group - All San Jose Lost and Found Animals and others as well. Please check the San Jose Animal Shelter’s found cats list DAILY because new found cats are brought to shelter every day. Here’s the link: http://tinyurl.com/SJACS-Cats There are approximately 250 cat & kitten profiles to go through. Please note: The shelter is only required to keep lost pets for 72 hours for owner reclaim, so act quickly to reclaim.

Please read the advice shared on the Missing Animal Response Network. They have a page specific to lost cat behavior. https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ Next, If you have not already, visit neighboring homes (don't rely upon their reading a post or a flyer), ask them to look into their garages and outbuildings, checking multiple times sitting patiently, and quietly. Cats get scared when in strange places and won't necessarily bolt for the door when it is opened, and might not even run to their person if they happen to be present. Check every logical and illogical place your cat may have gotten into in your home or on your property, to name just a few: cabinets/drawers (high and low; in garages/bats/sheds too!), closets, box springs/sofa liners (they make nice hammocks), under/behind cushions... Don’t forget to check in with local vets and animal shelters. Some have had success with placing a humane trap in their backyard - luring kitty in with a serving of their regular food. Finally, for any reading this, please keep a bowl of water (ideally freshened every 2-3 days) in your garages/outbuildings for those instances when a neighborhood critter happens to find themselves trapped. Good luck, I hope to read a positive update soon!
