put litter box and clothes outside on porch.

Put out his dirty litter box along with your granddaughters dirtiest clothes. Salmon or tuna left out may help also. Looking and calling for him at dusk and dawn when they are more active is recommended. You may want to go to the animal control SPCA to look for him. Your description and theirs may differ. Good luck I hope he returns home soon.
