A few helpful tips: Start searching ASAP!! You need to start knocking door to door in area lost. Post paper flyers everywhere right away. When looking in neighborhood, walk instead of drive it helps leave familiar scents. Look in hiding places, such as under bushes in window wells etc. Put owner’s dirty cloths and blankets outside with treats and water. The familiar scent can be smelled for miles. It can help find the way home. Also check shelters daily. The chips often fail, and shelters only hold animals 5 days before putting up for adoption. Also post on next door app and the many lost dog sites in your area/state. Walk your neighborhood in increasingly large circles around your home. Your footsteps will give your puppy a scent trail home. Repeat! Collect hair from your hairbrush and use it in your scent trail! Give your mail carrier a photo, description, and information so he can keep an eye out for him. Also take same to the local Post Office and give to your newspaper person. It might help if you can find a dog tracker. Your local law enforcement department may know of one or may be able to help you. Also, leave flyers with any gated community guards and post them in all your local veterinarians’ offices, grocery stores and post offices. Check any places that a door can be shut, they may hide in a room-container-or anywhere. Dogs/Cats hide in contained places where WE don’t look... just a thought! Check SPCA and Pound too Offer a reward to children in the neighborhood as they probably know more than anyone what is happening to pets in the neighborhood. Ask neighbors who have cameras outside to check their recordings. Maybe they can tell you which direction your pet went and if it has been coming back. Contact someone who tracks pets
