Since Goldie is an indoor-only kitty, she's probably closer than you think. Hunkered down out of sight, because she's scared and unfamiliar with his surroundings. Check your home's immediate surroundings very thoroughly. Under the porch, under a deck if you have one. Inside and under the shed if there is one in your yard. Check your back yard - all trees, and shrubs, any other storage, large appliances waiting for disposal, etc. Check any outdoor-facing vents that might be loose. Goldie could've pried one loose and squeeze into the space behind it and get stuck in there. If your home has a crawl space under it, an attic or a basement, check them all. Check your garage, top to bottom. Also check your laundry room, if it's a separate space. Ask your neighbors if you can check their garages and back yard very well too. Walk around the neighborhood and check under parked vehicles, any nearby structures and recessed areas as well. Check all bushes and tree tops along the sidewalk. Take a flashlight to help you search poorly-lit areas. Take her carrier with her favorite blanket in it and an item that has your scent as well. Also take a bag of her favorite treats, or an open can of tuna or cat food and a spoon. Shake the bag or tap the can while you walk around and call out to her. Keep your voice calm when calling out to her. Goldie might stay quiet and hidden at first out of fear or caution. Especially if she senses stress in your voice. It might take several tries to coax her out of hiding, so keep trying.
