MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Hello, I'm worried about this sweet, beautiful calico cat I call Cali. She's been showing up on my porch for two years and I've been feeding her, but I have not seen her in over a week now. I always see her out and about on Chestnut Street and Myrtle in Laureldale. She's been sleeping for 2 years under the porch of our neighbor 2 hses up. They have not seen her for a week either. I don't think she is feral, I've always thought of her as a stray, because she is friendly with me. She does hide from most people and dogs. But when she comes up to me, she throws herself on her back and shows me her belly. She talks a lot. She always says hello and responds to everything I say. Her left ear is tipped. She has all her claws. I am worried because we have hawks that circle. And there have been sightings of a fox. I also worry about speeding cars. And I heard a few years ago that people up the street were putting poison out to kill cats. If she is hopefully still alive, is it usual for a cat who has a routine to suddenly change locations? It is noisy here now in the summer with people nearby out talking late at night and blasting music where she usually sleeps. Also, recently a large orange cat started eating out of her food dish that I put out on the porch for her. I've caught him a few times during the night. And the last time I saw Cali she looked paranoid. Hid under my car a long time before coming over to my porch, and seemed jumpy. Would another new cat drive her out of her territory? This could also possibly mean someone is missing a large orange cat, I do not have a photo, but you should also contact me as well so I can tell you where/when I see him. And if anyone knows more about outdoor cats, I've heard they sleep more in the warmer months and eat less -- could it be normal she could disappear like this for awhile and she may come back later? We really seemed to have a special bond, I have even had her in my hse many times briefly, if I prop the door open when she's on the porch, she'll come in purring and rubbing her head on everything in the kitchen while I prepare her food. Please let me know if anyone has any sightings of Cali. She has a beautiful patch of bright orange with a white stripe thru it on her back right leg. And a cute Marilyn Monroe beauty mark next to her nose.

Nancy Stricker I agree. It is illegal. We need to make sure people know that. https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/li/uconsCheck.cfm?yr=2017&sessInd=0&act=10
