Cassandra Elaine Winkler, I'm so sorry I'm only now seeing your reply. After a couple of days Lilly Marie's survival instinct may kick in making it less likely she will return voluntarily there is still a lot you can do so please try to remain hopeful. Although it's possible she will make an attempt to return overnight (so be watchful) or you will find her hiding spot if you search as I will describe, your objective going forward will be to identify a place where Lilly Marie feels comfortable emerging at night for food. If you can lure her to a safe and quiet place to eat, she'll stay close and well nourished while you formulate a recovery plan, If you haven't already, please alert nearby neighbors in case Lilly Marie is hiding beyond your property (under a vehicle or structure, in a garage, shed, or carport, etc.) then don’t worry that you haven’t found her — cats are expert at hiding. Focusing your efforts close to home, search again during the day using a flashlight, but be quiet and discrete so as not to frighten her (shhh! tiptoe around, do not call or shake treats) -- check every crack and crevice, look in, under and around sheds, vehicles, furniture, under foundations and porches, into trees etc. — but suspend searching just after dark to give her the chance to emerge for food. Put something small but comforting and familiar outside (blanket, worn clothing, etc. — NOT a litter box or anything conspicuous) to give Lilly Marie the confidence to come out of hiding, and place tempting food in various safe and quiet locations at dusk (choose places where Lilly Marie will feel comfortable eating -- close to a foundation, under shrubs, inside a porch, shed or garage with the door cracked open, etc. — a frightened cat is more concerned with safety than food). Lilly Marie's instinct will be to come out after dark to eat and you want to be the one feeding her. Please see my complete instructions (click on the link to the PDF, below) and tell me if you have any questions. Hang in there and let me know how it goes. https://www.dropbox.com/s/e63sos0yc7znlej/EscapedCat.pdf?dl=0&fbclid=IwAR1x5gw2G_RoxuSs2vJQ9ym-6PIC-5u10U5UPUO6IRaBaIRT40A_mozvkX4

Cassandra Elaine Winkler, most indoor cats will attempt to return on their own at night within 48 hours under the right conditions and you're still in that window of opportunity. If she doesn't come back on her own by morning, you may have to implement a more comprehensive strategy. The reason for the food at the door is to hold her attention so you can open the door without scaring her away. If you're worried about strays or raccoons, put extra food at the bases of trees or out in the open and away from the house -- that should keep them occupied and away from Lilly Marie's food and path back home. I'm sorry the rain has interfered with her coming home but I hope to hear some good news by morning.

Diana Ellisok I will try one of my shirts and some of her things. It's been raining so hard here. I keep getting mixed answers on the litter box but it's not really an option for me anyway. We have multiple cats (3) and the boxes are pretty big. I am a little concerned with putting food out because there are other stray cats around and raccoons in our neighborhood and I don't want them to prevent her from coming home. I'm sure she just wandered too far and then the weather spooked her. I'm hoping someone isn't trying to keep her

I’m so sorry your beautiful fluffy lynx point Siamese cat got outside, but please try not to despair. Lilly Marie is likely hiding close to her escape route, too frightened to come when called or emerge in the daylight. I suspect Lilly Marie may attempt to return on her own overnight if the conditions are just right, so if you know what to expect and how to react, you could have her back inside by morning. I've recovered many escaped cats and have a full set of instructions, but I’ll withhold them for now, hopeful you won’t need them. This is what I suggest you do right now (tonight): put something small but comforting and familiar outside (blanket, worn teeshirt, toy, etc. (NOT a litter box or anything conspicuous -- the landscape must look exactly as it did when she got out) to give Lilly Marie the confidence to come out of hiding, and place tempting food where she got out. Then watch and listen closely from inside (DO NOT GO BACK OUT AFTER DARK!) and if you see Lilly Marie approach be very careful not to startle her. Slowly and quietly provide a clear path inside and she may put an end to the crisis herself. (You may occasionally call for her overnight, but do so softly and from the doorway -- going back outside could scare her away. Also, if you can't wait up set an alarm and watch again just before sunrise -- it's a popular time.) Please let me know what happens tonight and if she's not back by morning, I'll provide more detailed instructions. Also, although some suggest putting out kitty's litter box, EXPERTS WARN AGAINST IT. I've never used one in all the times I've been successful recovering a lost cat. Please read this to learn more about why it's neither necessary nor recommended: https://www.facebook.com/notes/lost-cats-georgia/why-we-dont-recommend-putting-your-lost-cats-litter-box-outside/1101245526665296/
