I should also add, we scoured the area to make sure there were not others, and did not see any others.

Hi all - my husband and I picked up these kittens from the road when we were out running a little over a week ago. They are super friendly (the white one is outgoing while the black one is shy), well behaved, not chipped, not neutered. We have not heard from any owner yet, but we do have two possible adopters lined up. We already have a handful of cats or we would happily take them. They are literally the perfect pair - it is hard to imagine how they ended up on a dirt road so close to a major highway (Route 9).
