Wherever he went missing, go there and put fliers up and check the shelter. Have someone who lives there post on Nextdoor. Your cat would not run off from where it was let out, it would hide in that area. So eventually he would have wandered out to look for food! So see if there are any neighbors who live by there that are feeding cats and put fliers at nearby vet offices as well

TODAY - previouslyLost cat mazy returned home today after 11 months! LOST CATS remain where they were lost/displaced for months and months... please know that you can find your baby...if you spot him late night for example he may run away being in survival mode all this time (once home he will revert back to being his normal loving self) though in some cases kitty will come to their human so you must try ( you would wait for him to come to you as you lure with treats vs approaching him...or do so very slowly) . I would request to rent a trap at your local shelter (or ask on nextdoor - which you should post and ask if someone can repost in the neighborhood your ex lives in since that is the address) in case you spot him or a neighbor catches him on their RING camera or you spot him on the camera you will aim at the wet food you leave either on your ex's residence (if the ex allows you to) or if not then right next door - somewhere out of sight of humans walking by like a under a bush then you can place the wild life camera a foot away.

Lost cat 'NINJA" was found within 2 blocks after 71 days of being lost. If you're reading this now - I would drop everything and go there now and walk around calling for him calmly and repeat this TONIGHT. Then during the day, Spreading the information via flyering in person is KEY. There will be false leads - so please expect that. Lost cat ninja is a tuxedo and I had to investigate multiple calls with sightings of a tuxedo cat - same especially goes for a black cat - hard to distinguish one from the other. Also Call the microchip company to report him lost - in case he ends up at a shelter and he's scanned for a microchip. You can find out the chip # from place of adoption or vet prayfully. many lost cats never end up at a shelter though some do so you must cover all possibilities. Focus on PRINTING FLYERS and distributing them today and when you go door to door knocking and talking to neighbors starting on the block he was lost - you may find that some nice neighbors feed stray cats or there may be a Ask neighbors to check RING cameras and if they recall seeing a black cat in the last month/s. 🐱💖💖💖 Report him lost to the shelter'/s near where your ex lives - they may have an online way to send a photo and info and also ask them (CALL) tell them about your situation and how you want to look at a back-log of any black cat that came through in the last 2 months. Can you narrow down the date of when he was lost? And will your ex or his kids help you? (EVen though I'm livid at your EX - if you can work with him to get a camera aimed at wet food and water he leaves out by the escape point - for your sweet furry baby - if you can try to work with him - it would be helpful BUT you can also do this alone. I've had to find cats that were lost over a month for elderly folks who did nothign to search...and FLYERING door to door coupled with leaveing wet food and water with a WILD LIFE CAMERA aimed that I would check daily (and replenish the food AM and PM ) once spotted I've had to use a humane trap to trap kitty...cats are amazing survivors... you can find him...get organized..print maps of each block you will cover using google maps - with the address #s showing so you can mark off 1 by 1 as you go door to door. Let me know if you want me to create your FLYERS and/or MINI FLYERS - I'm quick and free. sending you love and strength...💜💜💜 damia foti 650-339-6619

💥WARNING💥 New Scam Alert 💥 SCAMMERS will text you saying they’re affiliated with Pawboost or an animal shelter and that they HAVE YOUR CAT and that YOU need to PROVE who you are by giving other phone numbers, your email, verifying google codes etc or to send money to get your cat from the shelter. These are all SCAMMERS! THEY WON'T Send you a PHOTO of your cat (they'll make up any excuse) Tell them you know they are scammers and to stop! Please OR THEY'LL SEND a PHOTO of a similar cat - but it’s not your cat! Look closely. Trust that If a neighbor sees or has your cat they will give you information freely and not make you ‘send a code or personal information or money. Here are 2 SCAM texts examples I received -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fXZaisdpT9AAnYg38Sr4WILds0ewC5KU/view?usp=sharing 💜🙏Kitty will REMAIN very near HIDING.. It’s still early right now to go out the escape door and calmly call for Kitty in your normal voice for 30 minutes sit down in one spot and keep calling...some cats run forward right away to their human's calls while others take much much longer. Be patient and hang in there... Do not lose hope and do not stop taking action. 🐱💜 INDOOR ONLY cats and LIMITED OUTSIDE ACCESS cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases near the escape point. (If you can work with kids to do this) Your scent will attract your kitty. If he has a garage, (and that’s the side kitty got out) place the items just inside the garage door left cracked open 5” - just enough for kitty to get in. Also place wet food by the slightly open garage door and get WILD LIFE (or wifi camera if he lets you use the wifi) camera aimed so you can receive phone notifications of any movement, DO NOT leave the litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are NOT as likely to be killed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take days. weeks or even months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes, under porches, in crawl spaces. Try to look for the glow of the cat’s eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 150 feet of your home. . Make flyers and hand them out to every single neighbor within 3 block radius. Knock on doors / talk to neighbors ask them to check Ring cameras. It's VERY VERY important that you look for kitty as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated WIFI cameras are extremely helpful in spotting scared cats that come out to eat when no one is around. A lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only and limited access to outside cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can kill a cat in a trap. In a recent case, while using a baby monitor to monitor the trap from inside the home, the guardian’s cat came to the front door at 5 AM and she was heard on the baby monitor. 🐱💜 If kitty is spotted on camera eating then hiding and NOT coming to your sweet calls THEN I'd highly recommend setting a trap at the same time kitty was spotted on camera, and waiting (the trap must be monitored ever single second while it is ‘set’ in trap mode.) 🐱💜RENT/BORROW A HUMANE TRAP - Ask Nextdoor ‘cat owner’ group or other pet groups if someone can loan your a humane trap to lure kitty with stinky wet fish based food. You can rent from your local SPCA/animal shelter though it can take a few days to access so sometimes reaching out to cat groups on nextdoor and facebook will be faster. If you live in San Francisco I am happy to loan you one of my traps. Traps WORK well to lure scared cats out of hiding before Dawn or after sunset. 🐱💜 I always use a baby monitor → https://a.co/d/ikleXw0 as part of the STAKEOUT where you place stinky fish based wet cat food as bait at the far back center of the trap BEHIND the ‘trip plate’. I would suggest getting the help with someone experienced. OR watch the training videos below. They are excellent. You must monitor the trap at a close distance and/or watch the baby monitor live feed without distractions. 🐱💜Never leave an active trap unattended/unmonitored for even 10 seconds. You don’t want to trap another cat or worse, a raccoon. If you come across any stray cats coming to the food, please find out if kitty belongs to someone else by posting online ‘IS THIS YOUR CAT’ on facebook, nextdoor etc and take the cat to determine if micro-chipped. There are so many lost kitties and you would hope someone would do this for your kitty. 🐱💜BEFORE TRAPPING: MUST-WATCH HOW-TO VIDEOS 1. Trapper Tips and Tricks! 🐱💜Dear Guardian. I'm so terribly sorry he got out in a new territory months ago. Your kitty will remain near where he GOT OUT. WHERE is the location ? Did he get out from the backyards (locked within the block) or did he get out from the front? Can you find out this info from the kids? Is the location near you. Please know you can find your sweet kitty by taking action to cover ALL possibilities, Glad you posted. Taking ACTION IN PERSON IS KEY; Here is exactly what to do 🙏 GO THERE right now and walk around gently calling for him. You need to go there early morning and LATE NIGHT walk around calling for him on the block and 1 -2 blocks out from WHERE he was lost exactly. (your ex's residence) You must PRINT FLYERS and go door to door to find out if someone has been feeding stray cats or if anyone has seen your beauty..and PLASTER the neighborhood with flyers. You must start leaving WET food near where he got lost (was it from the FRONT OR BACK?) will the ex's kids help with leaving food out and aiming a camera for him? You need to become the food source..and spot him on camera (WILD LIFE CAMERA LINK BELOW) or spot him while you're out looking for him at night...if you spot him on camera but he hides from you in survival mode - THEN You will have to trap him. I'll post about that next. 🐱 INDOOR-ONLY CATS that are not used to being outside or GET LOST IN NEW TERRITORY will find the 1st place to hide and HUNKER DOWN in SILENCE. They tend to remain VERY NEAR, typically within the block or so . Kitty is in survival mode and meowing would give away the hiding spot to predators. Outside is strange for indoor cat, with wind & loud noises. Be patient. Don't give up! Kitty is out there. Cats that are scared and in foreign environment will often NOT meow though Kitty needs to keep hearing you (until kitty decides it’s safe to come forward..on your 40th or 400th call. 🐱 Most lost cats are found within the block - though keep open to the possibility of further out since it's been over a month. 💥 IMPORTANT 💥 SEARCH & CALL for kitty sweetly and calmly ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT from Sunset until SUNRISE (when it’s quiet, dark and cats feel ‘safer’ to move out of hiding) Set your alarm for 11pm 1AM, 3AM, 5AM call for kitty in your NORMAL, CALM voice...shake/crinkle the treat bag or shake kitty’s favorite noisy toy. I can’t tell you how many kitties come out of hiding during these late hours…(or you can hear meows if trapped in your next door neighbors garage or backyard for example).it’s best to sit down in 1 spot for at least 10 minutes at a time and CALL CALMLY ..be patient…scared cats are the best hiders. 🐱The ACTUAL neighbors on your the ex's block will NOT see these online posts. And they won't do anything if they see a cat unless they know YOUR cat is missing! This is why you must go door to door with FLYERS and post up flyers around your neighborhood on both sides of lamposts.. 💜🙏 🐱 KNOCK ON NEIGHBORS DOORS, starting on the block he go out . Stay organized. Take notes on a PRINTED Google map of your block - note which people you spoke to and who wasn’t home so you can remember to GO BACK later and try again until you talk to all neighbors on your block. 🐱ASK those neighbors to check RING CAMERAS, Garages, sheds, storage units/areas, crawl spaces, under porches..Kitty could be trapped (this happens all the time!) and talking to your neighbors will help engage them to look for your cat! 🐱 GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR NEIGHBORS YARDS: Get permission to check backyards yards - use a flashlight to catch the reflection of kitty’s EYE in crawl spaces, As to be ALONE while you search the premises. 🐱💜 PRINT 200+ FLYERS(or Mini flyers) for going door to door and POST FULL page flyers around your block 1st then expanding 2 Blocks. RE: Flyers you post up on streetlamps (Place inside a clear “protective sheet cover” with the opening facing down so the weather doesn’t ruin them. Google: “clear sheet protector” Buy on amazon or at a FEDEX PRINT store near you. To save time Send your print order online for pick up even if they’re closed. call once open+ ask if they can PRINT right away due to urgency. If you’re nice, fedex staff will always try. NOTE: They also sell the sheet protectors, packing tape and duct tape for posting Flyers on lampposts and blue painters tape (for adhering flyers onto front doors and mailboxes without any damage) Download a FLYER ‘template’ on www.happycatlady.com Offer a reward$ for a PHOTO of your kitty The FLYER should say to take a photo and call you And NOT to approach kitty who is scared. Download LOST CAT MINI FLYERS (5 on 1 page): (use ‘painters tape’ to tape these to every front door around your block) Does not replace full page flyers for posting on lampposts: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1lpD_hsqdPD1AFLYZmhyMEXvirsI0rNv1F5ebgxyNCxY/edit?usp=sharing ONLINE: 🐱 Post on www.Nextdoor com under ‘lost & found’ and ‘cat owners’ group using an address range. EXAMPLE 100-150 kitty street. 1. NEXTDOOR INVITE: https://nextdoor.com/invite/tlpjrfjfsfzzypgctspp 2. INVITE LINK TO NEXTDOOR ‘CAT OWNERS GROUP:https://nextdoor.com/g/qazvu50sq/ 🐱Report to Animal Care & control / animal shelters near the EX 💥 IMPORTANT 💥 PLACE A CAMERA (motion activated) AIMED at WET FOOD and water you leave by the escape point (leave door open 5” if possible with food inside). You may see other cats, raccoons eat the food. That’s FINE. Replace the food AM + PM (raccoons LOVE dry cat food so only use WET) You can't believe how many times a cat will return home at night and has no way of getting back inside (or is too scared to go back inside ) Without the camera aimed at food, guardians would never know kitty is AROUND. One spotted on Camera, but still hiding from you, THEN you will need to TRAP your kitty. I can Loan you a humane trap if you live in SF and share HOW TO VIDEOS. OR RENT from most shelters. WiFI Camera: Mini Blink camera $35: https://a.co/ihc7BSy 🙏💜DON’T GIVE UP! Sending LOVE & unwavering determination 💖🙏 damia foti 💖🙏 650-339-6619 ( www.happycatlady.com) https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ 🐯BELOW example of taking notes on map as I went door to door. F = flyered (not home) Added names I spoke to in person - the goal is to talk to everyone to best engage neighbors - ask them to check RING CAMERA search garage, storage, sheds and to CALL if think they see kitty (and take a photo) Keeping track on a map is a HUGE HELP - I often return a few days / 1 week later to remind folks!
