I’ve heard from animal control that the owners were found for the Shih Tzu and not related to the black dog but both are back home safe so that’s what’s important here. Thank you for helping to make this reunion possible. 🐾🐶Read More
PLEASE post on Nextdoor, Neighbors/Ring app, Pawboost (it's FREE and please post as "FOUND". Also check Pawboost LOST alerts), lost.petcolove dot org, lostmydoggie dot com, & on Facebook, in lost & found groups, & in community groups for your area. MOST IMPORTANTLY: File a found report with the shelters: 24petconnect dot com/BreedRequest/found. This registers the found dog with shelters within a 200 mile radius. Have pup scanned for a chip. Any vet office will scan for free. Walk pup around the neighborhood where found to see if anyone recognizes him/her. Put up flyers around the neighborhood where found, & surrounding neighborhoods. Ask for proof from whoever comes to claim him/her, as there are people who will try to claim other people's pets. Please be patient in finding the owner, as the owner may be a senior, not on social media &/or not internet savvy. Thank you for your kindness & for keeping him/her safe 💗🐾🙏🏻Read More
This dog was also found near where you found this Shih Tzu so I’m wondering if they are from the same family? Animal control is on their way to pick this black dog up and I’ve made them aware of this Shih Tzu just incase they are indeed from the same family.
Thank you for being so kind to help keep this found fur baby safe. Please ensure he doesn’t escape from you and if possible, secure inside so a coyote doesn’t and go.
Here’s some guidance steps of additional things to do:
🐶 IF YOU FIND A LOST DOG 🐶
Please take these steps to help reunite them with their family:
1. Post Online:
Share on local lost & found pet pages and apps like:
• Nextdoor
• PawBoost
• Ring (Neighbors app)
• Local Facebook groups
2. Scan for a Microchip:
Take the dog to a vet or animal shelter to scan for a chip.
Many rescuers also carry scanners - ask around!
3. Put Up “FOUND DOG” Signs:
Hang posters in the neighborhood - NOT everyone uses social media.
4. File a Found Report with Your Local Shelter.
This is essential and often legally required.
5. Foster if You Can:
If safe and possible, keep the dog in your care until the owner is found.
Be sure to request proof of ownership (photos, vet records, etc.).Read More
Thank you for helping this fur baby that you found… I’ve been helping with lost and found pets for over 11 years so I’m passionate about pet safety and pets being reunited.
Your location where found is covered by the Mission Viejo Animal Shelter which is a no shelter. Animal Services Officers are on duty from 7 am to 10 pm to respond to the following calls for service: stray dogs running loose, found animals for pick-up, and deceased animals. Please call their main phone line (949-470-3045) and press 2 to leave a message and an Officer will respond as soon as possible.
The shelter is one of the first places a pet parent will frantically call searching for their pet. Not everyone is on social media platforms as well.
There’s a law that went into play that any stray dog brought into the shelter that is redeemed by owner WILL BE microchipped before being released which will help the dog going forward in the future in the event he/she gets out again.
Thank you again for being a kind person to help this fur baby.Read More
Any new pet added within 2 miles of your location will be automatically shared to your Nextdoor feed.
The post will automatically update when a pet is reunited.
