Unfortunately, only vets have the device to check for chip and read the contact info. It's super quick. I took a cat in to check and it took less than 5 min after they took the cat in,. The chip wasn't registered but if it had been it would have given me the name and address of the owner. They were able to give me the chip manufacturer and serial number. I eventually used that data to register the cat to myself. It's pretty darn handy info.

I haven't seen it in 3 days, but if I can get it into my cat carrier I'll definitely take it to a vet to check. Do you know of any way other than that to have it checked for a chip? I know I may be able to feel it, but that's not definitive.
