Diane Elizabeth Dogs get out. Kids leave doors open, contractors leave gates open, they slip their collars, dig under fences. I've had dogs for 35 years. I lost mine once when I fell on ice and the leash went flying, the dog was terrified when I fell and ran away (I got her back.) Another time a dogsitter's kitchen door was unsecured and my dog slipped out through the door. Another time National Grid cut trees in my yard and left the gate open. Another time my visiting family had the door open to accomodate incoming suitcases and one slipped through my brother in law's legs. Another dogsitter lost one of mine temporarily when she dug under her fence.
