I know you said people in area might have taken but I wanted to give you this advice anyway. When our cat got out, we received good advice that helped him return after 12 days. I am sharing it in hopes of helping others. We got in contact with tracking places and they suggested that we put out feeding stations that include makerel, water, kibble and your unwashed clothes. Surround in powder to track pawprints. This will keep them in area or draw them back to the area. Most cats stay in a 4 house radius and indoor cats usually stay close to home. Concentrate in that area. Check and change daily. We put stations near a shed or porch so he has a safe place to hide from predators. We got trail cameras too. That way you can see what time and if it is your cat eating. We left our door cracked because I think that sometimes the cat returns but the door is shut. We did this for 1 week and little by little, he came out and eventually walked in. Praying and sharing
