UPDATE: Hi, a male GSD, about 2.5 yo was dumped in my neighborhood (South Philly) this past Monday. He has an unregistered chip and ACCT Philly instructed me after 48 hours of no owner coming to claim him, I can legally re-home him. I was however able to get into contact with the original owner through the vet where he was chipped and spoke with her. She said she gave the dog to her son about 2 years and has paperwork she sent me to prove it. After multiple vets, family members and myself have tried to reach the new owner, the son, he has not responded to our calls for the last week. Matching the make and model of the vehicle, as well as his description, we did confirm it was the son who did dump him. Getting the SPCA involved would include multiple things including the dog’s confinement to a kennel for an unknown time, and he is already extremely kennel stressed now. His temperament is very sweet with people, I’ve tested him with my cat and he seemed unbothered, and I am waiting to do an official dog meet. I will be getting his shots and neuter surgery soon but I am also looking to team up with a rescue to pull him.
