MESSAGE FROM OWNER

I think that someone in my neighborhood has my cat in their . They probably gained Gabrielle's trust by feeding him. Then grabbed him. The longest he stayed away from was almost 4 days. But that was during mating season last year. I was planning on having him fixed, but he didn't come after I let him out on May 4th. He was seen later on in the evening of May 4th by my next door neighbor. Then the next day, May 5th, walking up my neighbors driveway across the street from me.

DESCRIPTION

All white male cat. One blue eye, one yellow eye.

Put out something that she's familiar with that carries her scent (a bed, a blanket but NOT a litterbox), call for her in the quiet, still hours (12am-7am) THIS IS SO IMPORTANT, put out food in intervals (not at night) when you can keep an eye out. Lost pet cats go into survival mode super fast, you may need a humane trap if she doesn't turn up right away. Talk to your neighbors (most don't go far and find an open garage or shed to huddle down) and put signs in your local pet store (if someone takes her in they will need litter and food). I hope you find her 🍀

A cat's behavior when panicked is hiding in silence. It is a natural form of protection for a cat to find a place to hide under a house, a deck, a porch, bushes, or any place they can crawl. For a sick cat, that could be injured and hiding under a neighbor’s deck, owners might be busy “looking” for their cat and they are busy posting flyers on telephone poles. Instead, for a faster search and one that could bring your cat home sooner, is to conduct an aggressive, physical search of the immediate area while understanding that the cat might be close by but hiding in silence. Using humane traps and/or digital wildlife cameras is the most effective recovery method for finding a missing cat. Other areas would be to check a shed and garage carefully. Also, by putting a Cat house on your porch, with their own blankets inside the pet house and something of your own, or your pillow or socks. Cat nip helps too. Set your camera towards the cat house. 2 cameras would be even better. To show the steps and sidewalk or drive way and the kitty house. The food should be something the cat can smell. Put out dry food and bits of cooked chicken, or other type meats on top. Any scent that would be familiar to your cat will help your cat find its way back..

A few things you can try are: cats are active at night and early morning, walk around the outside of your house/building and whisper their name, do not shout it, the less yelling and excitement the better and then listen for a meow. They usually don't stray very far from home. Put his food/water, catnip, and clothing you wore earlier in the day in front or in back of your house, they say cats can smell up to a mile. Do not leave the food out overnight as it may attract other animals that can scare the kitty away. Go to your neighbors and let them know your kitty got out and give them your contact info. Walk your neighborhood, shake the treat jar and talk to people as you walk and talk to your mail carrier. They see lots of animals and if they see a strange Kitty around they may recognize it as yours. Make sure you call local animal shelters, etc. Cats can disappear for days, weeks, months or longer and return so don't give up!
