MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Our cat snuck out Friday night while we were letting the dogs out. We didnt realize until later and she didn’t come when we called her. She doesn’t usually leave the backyard and freaks out when the door is not open so she can get back in. She got too adventurous and I feel she can’t find her way or is stuck somewhere. I’m so worried with the cold temperatures and hate to think how scared she is. I appreciate any help to find her.

If you can, leave your door maybe cracked enough for him to fit through if he comes home, but not enough for your dog to get out? Jam it with something heavy for a door stopper There are stories all the time of the kitty just decided to go on an adventure and randomly makes it’s way home a random morning, so at least try to crack the garage if possible or the door (I know that’s unfortunate with the cold weather, but better to have your baby be able to come back inside!). Or at least put his stinky food out on the front / back porch and maybe some of his bedding to make it more inviting for him to stay on the porch until y’all wake up and see him if he comes back over night!

I'm copying and pasting so sorry if the wrong he/ she used- Just some advice that I’ve heard along the way- you’re going to have less luck looking for him during the day. It’ll take commitment, but I would go at night (once all the car busy times are over, I’m talking night night when it’s quiet and still out, around 10-11pm). And then the second best time is around 5am because cat’s biological clocks have them active right before sunrise. He’ll feel safe enough to walk around before all the morning cars/ dog walkers etc start going for the day. You’ll need to walk around calling his name, pretty loud . Who cares if you think you sound stupid 😂 he needs to hear your voice! And I would bring a bag of his treats, or a plate of his warmed up food so it’s super smelly. And I would leave his favorite blankets, unwashed clothing and blankets from yalls house around the perimeter of your property (backyard and front porch/ garage) so he knows where home is. I would also sprinkle some litter from his dirty litter box around your grass. They can smell SUPER far away, and that’ll be his specific scent. Leave the garage cracked, so in case he makes his way back home, he has shelter to wait for y’all. Put his litter box inside the garage. I wouldn’t be scared about “critters” coming in, or unwanted cats. Most cats don’t want to go into unknown environments anyways. But just know that kitties return all the time, I promise. Just have faith. Always go out there calling his name. Leave his litter out, do all the things. Never give up! Check Conroe shelter and Montgomery county shelter. And POST FLYERS!!! All around your neighborhood. Someone might have taken him in thinking they’re taking care of him, without realizing he’s missing. Especially with the cold / hot weather people are more willing to take pets in. So I would put flyers on mailboxes, since sometimes people are not on these apps/ websites, especially the elderly. The scent thing of the litter box and used/ worn clothing is really successful though. Highly recommend you doing that!!!! ASAP! Better to do it before he travels too far Post on Nextdoor app and Pawboost!! Go out and call call call for him with all the stinky food and treats before he gets too far!!!! Call as often as you can, look high and low, could be in trees or storm drains

🐈 I have gathered these suggestions from many years of personal experience. Check the local shelters. Someone may have taken her in. Talk to your neighbors someone may have taken her in or given her shelter. Check neighbors garages and storage sheds she may have sought shelter from fear or bad weather. If you haven't already done so put a sign in your yard with a picture and phone number that way if someone finds her they will know you have a lost cat. Also try putting food, litter box, hervbedding and clothing with your scent on it nearby outside. She may be able to find her way home by familiar scents. Most cats that get outside accidentally don't go far from home. Be sure to look up. Check trees and bushes. Try going out about sundown around your neighborhood and call for her. Walk and call and listen for her. Take a can of cat food like fish, pop the top, tap it with a s, familiar sounds may bring her running to you. Cats tend to move at night so be watchful after dark, she may try to come home but no one is awake to let her in. Don't give up hope, cats have found their way home after being gone a very long time. Cats are amazing! I hope these suggestions will help to bring your pet home. Prayers that you find your missing cat very soon...so pretty and I know you miss her.

Leave your garage door open slightly so she can get in
