MESSAGE FROM OWNER

We're really worried about Tommy. He has been part of our family for 11 years. He is sometimes friendly. He is microchipped. He is ear tipped on his left ear because he started life as a colony kitten. He may have allowed someone to take him inside. He goes outside but rarely misses a mealtime. He comes inside when it's cold. If you've seen Tommy, please let us know.

DESCRIPTION

11 years old and healthy. He is microchipped. Black & White with black face & white chin. He's friendly and may have allowed someone to take him inside. A large cat, but not overweight, about 14 pounds. He spends time outside, but has not been missing for more than one or two meals in nine years. He is greatly missed.

Sending prayers for a safe and prompt return. Late every night without fail, go out to the alley behind your house and stand calling him for at least 15 minutes. They usually don't go far. It may take him awhile to come out because he is probably feeling shy and afraid. Don't give up. My friend found her cat 40 days after he went missing.

Please fill out the lost forms at www.helpinglostpets.com, www.lostmykitty.com, www.pawboost.com, www.petfbi.com, www.petfinder.com, www.crittercops.net and www.cuddlesunited.com. All rescues/shelters/pd/vets/lost and found groups use those sites. Thousands will see the post. I've also noticed a lot more pet posts on the Neighbors, NextDoor and Ring apps as well as Craigslist. When you check Craigslist, check not only the lost and found section, but the for sale sections as well. Make it a point to share the lost flyer with every vet you can, near and far....you never know if someone picked up kitty and brought them to where they live....i.e. next town over, so keep that in mind. Also post at any business that will let you. Look to join local fb groups and ask to share the post from Helping Lost Pets when it's available....Not just the lost pets local groups, the ones that are watches, news, etc. Make sure to post on the "Pet Alert" page.... Additionally, put kitty's litterbox outside, cats can smell their litterbox up to a mile away. If you have any dirty laundry, put as much as you can outside your house...sprinkle it around your property. Keep your garage or porch doors open a couple inches to allow the cat to get to a safe space. Cats usually travel 1 square block per week, so kitty is probably close. Try sitting outside and talking in a normal, quieter voice....like if you were on the phone. Cats get very skittish if they sense fear or irritation in a voice. Try luring the cat out of hiding with a laser pointer, if you have one. Talk to every neighbor in a 2 block radius and ask them to check their garages, sheds and window wells. Ask some local kids to help you find or let you know if they see kitty. Finally, listen for neighborhood dogs barking for seemingly no reason...they could be barking at a hiding cat.... Best of luck and don't give up hope.

Hang flyers up immediately in gallon size baggies to protect from the weather and they will also let people know he is not a stray or feral, notify local mail carriers, UPS and Fed Ex drivers, and garbage men (they cover a lot of ground) they tend to stay close and come out at night, look with a flashlight under cars, decks and porches, and in bushes, trees and window wells, ask neighbors to check their cameras/ring for possible sightings, check shelters daily bc the stray hold is usually only a few days, put his bedding and some of your dirty clothes outside, leave your garage door open a little bit in case he comes around when you’re not home or at night. Post on Nextdoor app, post on PetFBI.org, and all neighborhood apps, ask businesses and neighbors to check their cameras/ring for possible sightings. 🙏 Praying you find him soon. 🙏 I cannot express enough how important flyers are. Not everyone is on social media.
