Shared. If you haven't already, please have the kitty scanned for a microchip asap. When you call to arrange it, verify it's at no cost to you. Post the kitty on Nextdoor. File a found report with the shelter right away, the family may already be checking with them for any updates. Post flyers in your area, including veterinary offices and pet stores. Not everyone checks social media, so this step can make a big difference. Ask for proof when someone contacts you to claim the kitty. Pictures of the kitty with the person/family claiming the kitty. Also useful to request veterinary records of vaccination and spay/neuter. Keep a close eye on the kitty's reaction to the person stating the kitty is theirs. If no information can be found, and you need to rehome the kitty, please contact local rescue groups for advice and help. Good luck
