Rita Barbour thank you Rita for your understanding and quick reply and yes I am aware and agree. I guess I just want to put the word out there for Good Samaritans who do they right thing spaying a stray, tips there ear and then adopts them or those adopt a cat with a tipped ear or if a loving family has their ear tipped to be outside. All need to be cautious… because it once was thought a tipped ear cat was safe to wander outdoors in their community but that is no longer the case. They use to be viewed as cared for and off limits. Now it seems they are at anyone’s discretion. I worked as a vet tech for 25 yrs never were there tipped ear cats for adoption. We all know cats don’t leave where there being fed. Maybe they live nearby. I believe a lot of so called rescue groups are cherry picking their rescue efforts. The “R” in TNR use to stand for return now it’s seems to be for relocate. And that’s a huge problem these days. People need to mind their own business if a cats not able to procreate and the owners are ok taking the risk for them being outdoors. Leave them alone.

Sammy Michael I understand but unfortunately there are those that find any animal and think it’s ok to rehome them without looking for an owner but there are laws they are supposed to carry out to look for an owner but sadly some don’t think so, check feral colonies in your area, as well as rescues to see if they recognize. So sorry! Never give up!

Rita Barbour thank you for your reply. Yes I understand and respect the concept of “TNR”… for the strays or outdoor cats who are not neutered or spayed and those without a tipped ear when trapped. My concern is for those friendly cats with tipped ears who end up in a trap… are those cats then getting ed up and adopted out leaving their families missing them or are they being released allowing them to back home? My very friendly beautiful cat with a tipped ear seemingly vanished into thin air the one night she was accidentally let back outdoors at night when I was out of town. The woman who sent me pictures of her outside that very night was in a TNR group. I’m very concerned some people aren’t making good decisions with their “cat rescuing “ mindset. To be frank … I’m almost scared at this point to post about a cat that may be lost in my neighborhood. In fear she’ll be relocated from her family.

Sammy Michael sorry you haven’t found your sweet cat! TNR cats are tipped and if they are deemed friendly, they get adopted out as there are a lot “dumped” in colonies. Also owners are having their outdoor roaming cats ear tipped to show they are fixed. Hope you find Rigby soon!😻🐾❤️

Rita Barbour hey Rita, still looking for my babe obviously . I noticed often their are a lot of cats being adopted out with tipped ears. And I was curious if you could explain to the public why? And are you & the rescue group your supporting making it’s known to those who adopt these cats … which are called “TNRcommunity cats” that they the run the risk of another rescue group stealing they’re cats if they venture outdoors to relocate them again. Just hope you guys are preparing them for heartbreaks? Because apparently if a cat has a tipped ear any so called “hero” can do with them as they please
