Adapt or modify to fit in your situation.
Put your cats bedding, wet cat food, toys and especially dirty human clothing (helping them smell their owner's scent). Cats have great sense of smell, helping them find their way home.
Keep doors or windows open so that if the cat returns, it has immediate and free access to the home. Put sardines or mackerel outside once it gets dark. If you have another cat, put it outside in a secure carrier overnight with supervision, if they are old enough to be safe.
Put a large sign in front of your home with that your cat is missing w/ it’s picture and your contact info. so all your neighbors know your missing a cat and if they see it they can contact you right away!
Also place bright signs in your area at parks, hiking and walking trails and on street sign poles with your cats pic and your contact info.
Also check your neighbors sheds & garages to see if your cat might be stuck inside. And check any tall trees in your area. It’s possible that the reason your cat hasn’t made it back home is because it is stuck up a tree.
Walk around, especially at night, calling your cats name, shaking a treat bag. Your cat is probably scared and hiding and may come out when it hears your voice.
Another successful tip to try, is to make a trail of treats or food from the outside of your home to the inside.
If you get a sighting and the cat doesn't return home, call Babs Fry at 1-619-249-2221 and they can set a trap.
