Gypsy is Missing in Burlington, IL

Please help us bring our little hunter back !! She is very missed & highly cherished.

She is a spayed domestic shorthair, tiger cat. She’s is a very sleek/petite cat maybe 7 pound cat, she is chipped- chip may be under her original name when adopted which is Twyla. She’s an escape artist with an animal spirit but she is not known to be gone this long, which is not typical of her.

Notify non-emergency police, animal control and the postal carriers in the area were lost. Check with neighbors or businesses nearby that may have cameras. Put a neon sign in your yard. Fill out lost reports with both Lost Dogs/Cats Illinois website and Pawboost website (choose not to pay for ads and it’s free!) They will generate a flyer for you to print. Post in lost animal sites and community sites on FB. Put up flyers at nearby stores/gas stations, pet stores, libraries, and give some to pizza delivery places to put on their boxes. Put the outside flyers in a gallon sized freezer bag to protect from the elements. You can also try bus companies to put a flyer on their buses. Let the kids in the area know as they notice everything when not on their phones. Put food and water out and something with your scent. Check in nearby garages, sheds, window wells, ponds, look under decks. Also check with shelters in person or call as many as you can and give them a flyer. If the animal is chipped notify the company and make sure your contact info is correct. Also let vet and groomers in the area know. Can see if anyone has a drone to help search especially if woods nearby. Please also be aware of scammers. Especially if you are giving a reward. Do not give them a code or anything they ask. Tell them you will give them the reward at the police station for both of your safety. 🙏🏻 for a reunion soon! Don’t give up hope!

Remember she knows you are her food source. She needs a water source 24/7 and you can try food during day, but only during the day when you can monitor. Go out and shake her treat bag call her gently. Make sure to register ASAP at all the sites. Pet FBI, PetcoLoveLost, Lost Cats of IL, Pawboost, LostMKitty and your county shelter. Some of these sites generate instantly a flyer for you with her picture you provide when you file the report. Put the flyers up ASAP. They are key to alert neighbors and the community she is yours if they see her. Put them in your immediate area and further out at more major crossroads. Keep them dry by placing an upside down Ziploc bag over them. Another effective method is a live trap that you place up by your house in a position where you can frequently check it. Do this during the day with the stinkiest can of food you can find. Pull inside at dusk. At night go out with a flashlight look for glowing eyes under bushes under cars open trees. Talk to your neighbors to alert them that she’s missing. Ask them to check in their sheds and garages under their bushes. Sometimes they’re not all that far away. They’re just hiding out. At night you can try putting your garage door up about 4 inches. Do not put a litter box out because that attracts other cats that will then mark her territory or predators so you don’t want that. Good luck.
