I am assuming Indoor/outdoor cat: Please check with neighbors for accidental trap ( in garages or garden sheds etc) that quite often happens with indoor / outdoor kitty. If they don’t let you search these area in person please ask them to leave them open for few hours to give time to escape. Have you left his scented items or your unwashed cloth out? (NO LITTER BOX as it attracts predators and other local cats instead!) Could any other cat recently come to your neighborhood as cats are very territorial and might have pushed him out of his territory and too scared to come back. Call him at night preferably 12-5 am with calm voice as they pick distress in your voice and not show up. With use of flash light check top of roofs or trees. Leave the door or window he went out last time crack open all time preferably, he may come back on his own. Put big Neon flyers up and distribute small fliers to your neighbors 10 doors at least each direction. My prayers for his safe return.
