In the 5 years that Scooter has been missing, I've - submitted/extended approximately 207 lost reports - posted approximately 365 entries on the recently deactivated GIS stray map - hung hundreds of flyers, most laminated by my sister to weather the elements And none of these measures the heartbreak and the constant worry - Is he comfortable and treated well, getting the vet care he needs, being groomed, eating well? In general, is he okay? It also doesn't measure the countless efforts of others who are committed to finding Scooter. There is hardly a day without a text, call, PM, or tag. Though not as often, I've even had people flag me down in my car (magnetic flyers) or knock on my door (sign in my yard). I've said it before, but maybe not enough - I am deeply grateful for every single effort. Your support keeps me hopeful. October has become particularly hard. Seeing Halloween decorations takes me back to those first searches, walking door to door by myself, pressing on through exhaustion and dehydration. That’s what Halloween means to me now. People who knowingly keep someone else’s pet, without checking for a microchip or reporting them as found to the authorities are scum. They don't just hurt the family. They hurt the pet, too, by keeping them from their loved ones. To be clear, I'm not talking about the people who give a homeless pet a home after an honest, but unsuccessful search for their family. Sorry for the long comment. I don't usually say much. But behind the scenes, there's a lot going on. Thank you, again, for all the help. Let's keep the faith! I still do.
