Sweetie Steve is new to this area. He was rescued as a stray in TX and came to NY to his forever , but he is skittish, and very scared, especially of barking dogs (unfortunately). He likely would hide under someone’s porch or deck, looking for a tasty morsel of food (he favors food over snacks) or some water, or near a food source, even near garbage cans … Please be on the lookout for him. We miss him and want him with us 💔

Maryjane Surico Thank you for your suggestions. As per my responses to prior advice such as yours, Steve was posted on Lost Pets of Hudson Valley, Lost Pets of Westchester and other NYS lost pet sites in addition to Lost Pets of CT and my local NextDoor (which covers my area on the CT-NY border). Buddha was contacted at the outset and never bothered responding (and if they were too busy, they should have just said so, which I would have appreciated). Their website does not provide advice that is significantly different from other rescue groups, such as CT Dog Gone Recovery, which despite working only in CT, has repeatedly been in contact with me, with practical pointers and support. None of these groups, however, will set out traps or hunt for lost pets unless there is a sighting. Again, thanks for reaching out. Every little bit helps (especially getting the word out).
