Emmy has been FOUND This will be a long post but if you've recently lost a pet, please read it. hope this helps someone else not lose faith. First, thank you to every single person who shared my posts, kept an eye out, prayed for Emmy, or even just checked in on me. Every little thing meant more than you know. On May 7th, Emmy got lost about 5 blocks away from home after getting scared near a gas station and jumping out of a car window. (It was not me who took her for a ride but it won't happen again that's for sure.) Ever since, I have been looking for her. Every morning before school or work, I would spend extra time driving around the area hoping to spot her. Every night, l'd walk around for hours calling her name, checking streets, alleys, bushes, anywhere she could be hiding. I borrowed a humane trap from a very kind human and set it up around the area. Every time I saw a cat, my heart would stop for a second because I hoped it was Emmy. I slammed on my brakes more times than I can count thinking I saw her. At first, I prayed nobody had taken her because Emmy is the sweetest, friendliest cat ever so it would be no surprise they'd want to keep her. But as the weeks went by, all I cared about was that she was safe, even if it meant I'd never see her again. Still, I never gave up. For over 3 weeks, she was the first thing I thought about when ! woke up and the last thing I thought about before sleeping. Tonight, I remembered seeing a comment under someone else's post saying: "Go outside and call your cat's name. Don't be embarrassed. Don't lose hope." So that's exactly what I did. While walking around and calling for Emmy, I randomly turned down a street I had never checked before. At the very end of the street, I saw a cat sitting there. I remember thinking, "They probably just heard me yelling." But as I got closer, I called out, "Emmy!" And she looked at me. I genuinely thought I was dreaming. I even called my boyfriend asking if this was real. My poor baby seemed scared at first. After surviving outside for more than 3 weeks, who knows what she went through. But none of that matters now because Emmy is finally safe and back home where she belongs. If you're currently searching for your cat or dog, please do not give up. Your pet is depending on you just as much as you're depending on them to come home. Keep looking. Drive around the neighborhood one more time. Walk the streets. Call their name loudly. Sometimes one extra turn is all it takes.
