Message from Owner

I am temporarily caring for this cat and have fell in love with her. A mishap with her arm getting stuck in her cone lead to her wiggling out as I opened her recovery cage. This happened early this morning around 1am. We believe her to be hiding nearby. I have multiple traps and am looking to see if anyone has seen her.

Vanessa Angel update is there is nothing. Neighbors, social media, lost/ found websites, rescuses- I feel hopeless, this event and subsequent consequences have me at an all time low. I am barely breathing and I have been sick to my stomach since. I haven't been able to trap her, just other kitties and an opossum so far. I don't know her well enough, just 6 days, to know what she might do/where she might go. She had to of been owned previously and abandoned because once you touch her she melts. She seems like she has lived outside on her own for some time. She doesn't respond to any name, as far as I know. I named her Riley. She doesn't know this area. Her stitches need to come out today (Wednesday) I can't believe this has happened. I set alarms and go check on the traps, I go in a sleeping bag outback (the path she took) with kitten noises playing on my phone. What I know- 2-6years old recently fixed, recent amputation. Might appear feral (no ear tip) due to disorientation because of severe trauma (severe injury leading to exposed bone) , surgeries, new people and places, a new cat smell, hating wearing a cone, being given medicine, etc. She will not come when called and as far as I know is bonded to no one. I have followed all advice. I am desperate. I will be making flyers for her with a reward.

Lost Cats‼️ Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up, it can me n take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of her eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum theyqq snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap.

Send a message to Fido Alert - Claycord with all this information and they will create a post for you. Tips for FINDING a lost cat. Cats that are not used to being outside, OR get spooked by someone or something outside, will find the 1st place to hide and HUNKER DOWN in SILENCE. They tend to remain VERY NEAR. Cats that are scared and in foreign environment will often NOT meow/ respond to calls even from their human (at first) ...though Kitty still needs to HEAR you and keep hearing you (until kitty THINKS it’s safe to come forward: that can take several days) - so do NOT stop calling out... Kitty is in survival mode and meowing would give away the hiding spot to predators. Outside is strange for indoor cat..with wind & loud noises. Be patient...Don't give up! Kitty is out there. CALL for kitty consistently throughout the day and ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT from 10:30 PM until 6AM (when it’s quiet, dark and cats feel ‘safer’ to move out of hiding). VERY important as this is how most people find their lost cats. Call for kitty in your NORMAL, CALM voice and wait. Shake treats (if that is something kitty normally responds to). I can’t tell you how many kitties come out of hiding during these late hours…(or you can hear meows then if they are trapped in your next door neighbors garage, shed or backyard for example). Put pieces of your worn clothing outside, post on Nextdoor
