Leave cat litter around the are where you lost your cat. Keep food evryday there, put the wet food they know and the litter they know in that area. the cat will smell it and stay there. They don't really move around and are very smart about an area so if they get lost they know where the house is. Keep looking for the cat (night time is the best). I lost my cat for two weeks, she was within 10 feet of where she got lost and i eventually found her by seeing a black cat running into the bushes and yelling out her name. They might not come out even if they recognize your voice because they are so scared, so just keep looking everyday.

Immediately make a flyer and/or go door to door asking neighbors to check their Ring and other security cameras for sightings starting the day your cat went missing and until its found. Also ask they search (or if you a search) their property for places it could be hiding. I helped my neighbor whose cat was lost and on day 16 I got a notification on my camera and saw a cat. The owner went out with some smelly food and softly called her name and heard meowing. They found her under the cover of a bbq grill. Get something with the scent of your cats favorite person (a pillowcase that being slept on or sweaty workout clothes is best) ASAP. Your car will be looking for the scent of their owner! You have to go out in the wee hours when its quiet to search for them!!

In case this is any help, my indoor cat got out & was lost for a month, & I left notes for all of my neighbors asking them to check their garages, sheds & barns. Plus joined Next Door & posted there. I did see Rolo posted there. Everyone was very helpful. A neighbor found her & showed me which bush she was hiding in- she didn’t come out even when I called to her. I think she was just scared & protecting herself, because she was like my other half. So look into bushes. I also had young cats get out years ago, & 2 days later found them in my bushes, & I had to crawl in to get them. People say to look at night for eyes with a flashlight. Someone recently found her cat that way, getting up every hour overnight to check. Some people have found their cats around 3 am-ish. And check Humane Society etc frequently in person, because busy & sometimes make mistakes. Also check with Animal Control. My cat was found around 6:30-7 am when she was out looking for food. Another person found their cat in the middle of the night by putting the litter box on the porch & monitoring it. Another found their cat by opening the garage door, putting blankets & food in there. Someone recently had luck with fliers- their cat was at a neighbor’s. Another found theirs in their shed that they had searched already. Someone found their cat by sleeping by the door with a fan blowing their scent outside. A few people recently found their cats under tarps of things after they’d already checked there. There are people who help using thermal drones. You could try contacting South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery- they have a Facebook page… if anyone around you has Ring cameras etc, maybe they could check them- that’s helped a few people. Post on Nextdoor and Ring apps. Ask neighbors to check car hoods, garages and sheds immediately. Make sure to tap hoods of the car around. Keep an entryway open for cat to get in. Buy or loan a live cat trap from online stores or local tnr groups. Leave your garage open with cat to enter. Put some food and your clothing there for smell. Get a motion sensor camera to detect when cat is around your property

The best time to look for a cat is late at night after the daytime sounds settle down. Go for a walk and take a flashlite scan into the trees and under bushes. A cat can fit in any hole that they can fit their head thru they have collapsible shoulder blades. Most indoor cats stay close to home but come out at night. Most important is to make your presence known. Go out every half hour after 9pm and call for them and stop and listen it's amazing what you can hear late at night. Get your voice and scent out there. They are looking for you also. Look for glowing eyes at night. If there is a dog sibling that the cat likes take the dog on the walk. If you open canned cat food or shake treats do so on your walk. If the cat has a noisy toy shake it on your walk. Make posters and put in every business within a mile of the home. Let your mail carrier know. If there are teenagers in the neighborhood let them know they love reward money and being a hero. Check all local shelters. Let local veterinarians know your info. If there is a feral colony near you check it out. If you can find the feeder of the colony give them your info. Make large signs and put in neighbors yards at least a mile radius of the home. This ensures that everyone in the area has the info. Put post it notes on your neighbors doors to look in sheds and garages. Post on every Facebook forum in your area. Post on Pawboost and For the love of Louie. Check Humane Society. So important to make your presence known every half hour after 9pm. Make a bed out of the cats carrier and put soiled clothes from inside the home around the bed. Put it as close to the house as you can. Leave a shed or garage open check them often. Camp in your yard. Most indoor cats are found late at night. Don't give up. Do not put food out or litter it attracts every animal in the area including raccoon opossum feral cats and coyotes. Your cat will know that there is food inside and that is incentive to keep them close to the house. If you are outside that's OK but take it in when you go back in. If your cat sees a predator eating their food it might make them retreat further. Most important is to let them know you are looking for them. Hope you find your baby

🚨Please follow these tips immediately suggested by professionals. They have been successful for others. LOST CAT TIPS Your Missing Cat will try to re-enter the home when the neighborhood is quiet. If it all possible, leave the door ajar that the kitty escaped from and secure other companion animals to a separate room of the home. He/she will try to re-enter when the neighborhood is quiet in the evening and overnight hours. Make sure you physically check underneath and in the engine compartment of your vehicles prior to starting in the morning. Cats typically don't go very far, and are hiding, so you'll have to search for them. Put clothing/bedding that smell like him/her and his/her family outside the home immediately. Along with some smelly food such as tuna,. sardines,. mackerel fish in front of camera if you have one. The usually will follow the scent home. If you have a garage, leave the door open enough for him/her to get in. If you live in a mobile home community look under yours and your neighbor's homes. Check around your home: bushes, up in trees, deck, porch etc. If their head fits their body will too! Door-knock neighbors and ask them to check outbuildings, sheds, garages and ring cam footage. Use a flashlight to look under cars, bushes and up in trees for the glow of the kitties eyes. Go out periodically through out the night shaking his/her treats or opening a can of wet food and call to him/her. Listen for any responses and watch for movement and/or eyes peering out. Renting/borrowing/buying a live trap and setting within the first 24 hours your cat has been missing is a good idea. Live traps need to be monitored frequently. Be prepared to release wildlife. You can purchase a live trap at tractor supply store. Use sardines, mackerel fish or tuna in the trap, they will not go in a trap for cat food. The only food they should have access to is what's in the trap or they will not go in. Post on Nextdoor app and any other neighborhood groups on Facebook. Ask neighbors to check security camera footage for sightings of him and to call you ASAP. Post on For the Love of Louie *Michigan Lost Pet Lookers* Also post on pawboost online for lost and found pets. Posting neon posters in your neighborhood is very important to the recovery of your lost pet. Also give a flyer to the mailman. You can use neon poster board from the dollar store. Write missing cat, a description of your cat and phone number with a marker.
