However, if the cat appears calm, healthy, and well-groomed, it could just be exploring. **Check for Identification**: Look for a collar or ID tag with contact information. If the cat has one, it’s likely a pet and not lost. **Scan for a Microchip**: If the cat doesn’t have visible ID, you can have it scanned for a microchip at a local vet (emergency vets are open 24/7), pet store, shelter, or one of the shelter’s Microchip Checkpoint Partners across Mecklenburg County (see link below). You can also call 311 to request an officer to come to your home to scan the cat for a microchip. take it in the trap to any animal hospital. They’re the ones that are open 24 seven or Google ones near you they will microchip scan it for free and hopefully get it back to its owners. You can’t leave it in that trap and when you do it cover with the blanket, and if you need to ask them to come get the trap out of the car. Thank you for being kind.🙏🐾🙏
