IF YOUR DOG IS LOST: Post on Paw Boost. Post on NextDoor. Post on other neighborhood group pages. Flyers all over, store fronts in area ,all businesses that will let you post in their windows.,pet stores, feed stores, farm co-ops,vet clinics, animal shelters, animal rescue centers, groom shops,Everywhere. Notify the chip company ASAP that she's possibly stolen. Do not give out the microchip number. Contact police just to let them know. Again let vet clinics and everywhere you post flyers and leave flyers about the lost dog. Proactive quickly is the key. Also notify fire stations ,ambulance companies, police, sheriffs , mailmen, all these people drive or walk the local neighborhoods as part of their jobs. Flyers in all mailboxes in a 10 to 15 mile area. Scared dogs can travel a long distance quickly in a short period of time. Talk to kids in the neighborhood, they often have a better finger on the pulse of the neighborhood than adults. Leave clothing outside around the house, dogs have incredible noses. If you've slept in it even better more scent on clothing. Go to shelters in area everyday ask to see all dogs. This is important. First ,most shelter workers do not know the different breeds. Second, this is a true story of a personal friend : they lost their dog, it was picked up by Animal Control. The owners went EVERYDAY to see if he'd been picked up. Same answer everyday: no dog fitting that description was there. Last day they went they asked again, they heard loud barking when they said his name, they demanded to see that barking dog....it was their dog. He was on death row to be euthanized. Please be as pushy as you have to be to see all the dogs, it's your dog you are trying to find. Also consider drones and cameras set up if a known sighting to trap the dog. "FindingTito" a Facebook page is a great source for this info. Contact Finding Tito. Also local dog tracking services in your area may be able to help. Do not chase. Dogs when on the lam go into survival mode and can actually not recognize their owners for a few minutes when reunited. Also ask local news personalities to post on their FB pages. Also ask local radio stations to do PSA's. Most will do these ,they've done these in Knoxville, it helped get a Giant Schnauzer home a long time ago. Contact NetPosse.com they were started for lost and stolen horses but now find lost dogs and other livestock and animals. Best wishes in getting your dog home.
