Friends of the Pet Adoption Center has 5 or 6 black cats they just posted on their page as found. Please look at them!

Poor baby! Please try these things even if some sound unusual, it truly works! These are things that I've personally seen happen and help so many pets get back home! 1. Please be sure to notify the chip company if they are chipped and make sure your info is up to date. 2. Do not set out a dirty litter box. Cats hide their stool to protect themselves from predators, it can attract dominant cats or predators causing them to retreat further. Leave a t shirt or blanket outside instead. 3. Rattle a treat can if you have one. Especially when it's very quiet outside! You may have to listen for a faint meow. 4. Go out at night with a flashlight and look under bushes and porches, the eyes will glow when the flashlight hits them. They can get trapped in garages and sheds too! Check all possible hiding spots, even high in trees. 5. Alert neighbors and mailman, even go to their house or put a flyer in their door! Ask if they (or you) can check any garages and sheds. 6. Watch the Ring doorbell app and Nextdoor app for sightings, as well as all the lost pet facebook pages and the lost and Found section and Pets section in Craigslist. Watch Lost/Found/Sightings of Missing Pets in St.Charles County, Greater St Louis Missouri Lost & Found Paws, St Charles County MO Lost And Found Animals, and there are a lot of others pages. 7. Chips can migrate and sometimes can shelters get the wrong. Check repeatedly every 2-3 days. Check further away too, sometimes people take pets away from their home base. I saw 1 found 4 hrs from home last week! I've seen people take them to shelters in other counties as well. 8. Get on 24petconnect and call your local rescue groups in case they found your kitty. This does happen. Most rescue groups will assume they are strays or abandoned and will not look for an owner if the cat isn't microchipped. 9. If you have money for a cheap camera put it outside to see if your kitty comes around at night or while you're gone. You can use a trail cam or we use Wyze cameras from Petsmart, Home Depot or Amazon, cheap yet very good. Usually about $25/$30 with memory card. Records day & night, motion sensor, etc and no membership is required. 10. Borrow a live trap from the Pet adoption center and put some good food or sardines in oil in the far back of the trap. Never leave it unattended though! 11. Check the closets, cabinets, inside furniture, in washer/dryer, boxes, all over to ensure cat is not in the house. 12. Leave a cardboard box outside (under shelter) with a soft blanket or straw, for your cat to hide in if they return when you are not home. 13. Check 24petconnect. This website provides found cats that are currently at Animal Control, the Humane Society and the APA. The website updates throughout the day so check back often. I've even seen cases of chips that stopped working. 14. If you have a garage, leave your garage door open a little or put out a box or plastic tote with blankets for shelter in case he/she comes back at night. Keep entry point open when possible so cat can re-enter with ease. 15. Look in storm drains. Follow the path in case your cat traveled it. 16. Check near trash piles and boxes left out. 17. See if anyone has a cat friendly dog that might be able to get your cats scent and locate him/her. 18. See if there are any cat colonies or feeders of cats nearby. Some people have lost their kitties and they were found at a cat colony looking for food. 19. If it's cold out check any possible warm place, even under cars and in wheel wells too. Prayers sent and post shared!

If Bruce is normally an INSIDE cat… then he is definitely scared and hiding and you will need to go out at NIGHT with a flashlight and look for his “glowing” eyes. He is VERY CLOSE to your house… most likely in YOUR OWN YARD. They usually find a hiding spot very quickly and very close to where they escaped. Look up in the trees and check under everything in YOUR YARD first… under decks, under sheds, inside bushes, wood piles and storm drains. Then check your neighbors yards. They are very good at hiding. THE BEST TIME TO FIND HIM IS AT NIGHT WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND HIS EYES WILL “GLOW” BACK AT YOU. Bruce is so scared, he will NOT respond to you calling him, so you'll have to use your eyes instead of your ears to find him. When cats are suddenly outside, they go into "survival mode" and their entire personality changes. They will NOT wander. They find a hiding spot very close by and are very scared and will not come out for anyone... even their owners. I hope you find your fur-baby very soon!

Jeanne Jones Lost Cat Tips: 🐈 1. Look inside cupboards and closets, under beds, behind curtains and furniture, inside beds (under the covers), under furniture (cats will climb inside furniture/boxspring mattresses by ripping open the underside). 2. Get on social media and ask people in the area to check sheds, garages, under porches and hedges and keep a look out for your cat. Don’t forget to door knock too, as not everybody is on social media. 3. If your kitty is normally an INSIDE cat, then he/she is likely VERY CLOSE to your home. Indoor cats usually find a hiding spot very close by. Check under yours and your neighbors decks, bushes, wood piles and sheds. The best time to search for a cat is during the evening when there is less traffic noise and fewer people on the streets. Bring along a flashlight and shine the light under hedges, porches, cars, trees and roofs. The eyes will glow when the light hits them. Carry a container with cat treats to shake. 4. Leave a dirty t-shirt or some old shoes outside, this is a safer way to attract the cat using scent. It won’t attract wildlife or neighborhood cats but can be enticing enough to flush out your cat. 5. Put smelly food (tuna/sardines) outside and watch from a distance. Don’t leave food out 24/7, as it may attract wildlife. 6. Leave a cardboard box outside (under shelter),with straw in it, for the cat to hide in if he or she returns when you are not home. 7. Leave your garage door cracked open, day and night. Cats roam more at night and may return home. 8. Tell your local mail carrier to watch out for him/her. 9. If there are sightings of the cat, try to borrow a trap from a local rescue or shelter to trap the cat. 10. Notify police, vets and animal shelters in the area. Visit your local shelters in person, do not call and ask if your cat is there. The people who work there makes mistakes all the time. They even make mistakes on the and miss the micro-chip, so be sure to check the shelter in person. 11. Check www.petharbor dot com. This website provides found cats that are currently at Animal Control, the Humane Society and the APA. The website updates throughout the day so check back often. ALSO, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO SEARCH EVERY SHELTER AVAILABLE IN THE LIST BY DATE, DO NOT SEARCH BY BREED OR SHELTER. Be sure to check the FOUND BY PUBLIC section as well.
