Searching for him is the fastest way to get him back: 🐾 Sad seeing so many kitties go missing just this week. Poor baby, he must be so scaredļæ¼ and hungry out on his own. When a cat goes missing, they can’t easily find their way home using only their scent. You must be proactive and look for them. šŸ”¦ Look under cars, bushes & hedges, look for glowing eyes w/flashlight, call his name at dusk when it’s quiet and they come out from hiding to eat. Posting is important, but please search for him, too. They don’t go far, 3-4 houses away, they stay in one place until they are scared off by dogs, coyotes, or loud noises. The challenge is finding him before he gets further away. šŸ“£Please hang flyers near the area he went missing, it’ll let your neighbors know you’re looking for him and get the immediate attention from pedestrians and drivers. You’re the one that can bring him home safely, he’ll recognize your voice, footsteps and your scent.ļæ¼ Post on ND, check SDHS Lost & Found daily. If you’re able to find him, PLEASE, please don’t let him out unattended. Cats have the intelligence of a 3yo, they don’t know the dangers, they face outdoors with coyotes, dogs, cars, and worst of all evil people who taunt or injure cats. It only takes an hour to train a cat on a leash, then he can be outdoors safely with you. Good luck finding this gorgeous little guy šŸ¾šŸ’™šŸ¾

Kimm Louise McLaughlin Excellent response! Years ago my indoor cat Dexter (former feral) got out of the house as my husband opened the door to bring the laundry in. He was gone for ten hours. Ten of the worst hours of my life. He actually stayed in our yard, as you mentioned above. Thankfully I had a family of feral cats living in my yard so I had food outside for them 24/7. So there was Dexter, gorging himself on his favorite Meow Mix on my back patio. The only way I got him to come to me was using his favorite toy. As he stepped into the house to get it, I grabbed him by the ass and shoved him across the hardwood floor. He ran down the hall, got on my bed, and sat there like nothing had ever happened. His back legs, when I shoved him across the floor, got my hand and really did a number on me. Not his fault. I scared him. But when I went into the bedroom to clean up the scratches, he got off the ned, came over, and started rubbing all over my legs. Little brat! But I could not be angry at him, I was just so thankful he was back inside where he was safe. After that, I lived in fear that it would happen again and learned how to come in and out safely.

I pray your baby comes home safely, but really? He’s never been gone this long before? Keep your cat INSIDE at all times, where it’s safe. It’s not that difficult.
