Message from Finder

Young, male cat, maybe one year old recently sighted around my hse. He is friendly, loves attention and food! Some hair appears to have been shaved from his under-belly. Would like to unite him with his owner!

If he's friendly and loves attention, doesn't sound "feral" to me. Just lost or homeless.

Might be loved and lost: Please door knock ... If no success, asap distribute found posters and leaflets (as not everyone is on Facebook). Request proof of ownership (eg photos of cat and owner together not AI generated, microchip papers, or unique, unobvious distinguishing features). Also ID which matches physical address. For safety reasons (to protect from cat hating psychopaths) 😞 ... Call a rescue for a microchip scan. Last resort (as stressful for cat, could escape, end up at pound, or worse), take to vet for microchip scan and health check. If owner located, please explain that most cats need to be locked in for 3+ weeks to bond to a new (or old) home, otherwise sooner or later might try to head back to previous territory and become hopelessly lost ... Also, most cats are escape artists until bonded to new home (eg breaking through mosquito netting and forcing sliding doors / windows open. Best use a piece of dowell in door / window tracts to prevent opening more than 2cm). To be extra vigilant! Thanks for caring 🙏

Un-neutered male (tom) cats: more likely to wander, become hopelessly lost, encounter hazards (eg dogs, cars, toxins, disease, psychopath cat haters), fight & spray (with stinky pee) 😞 Ideally arrange to have him neutered asap. 🙏 🙏 It takes a month or two for the stinky tom-cat pee smell to dissipate, so best keep cat in a very secure tiled area ( eg bathroom). With litter tray, cat bed, etc. (Unless you don't mind having to rip up carpet, re-coat timber floor-boards & re-paint walls!) Old neutered tom cats become the most cuddly, grateful, laid back home-bodies, once neutered and loved. (If not tame, google how to tame a 'feral' cat, it won't take long). Be aware: most cats need to be locked in for 3+ weeks, to bond to a new (or old) home, otherwise sooner or later might try to head back to previous territory and become hopelessly lost ... Also, most cats are escape artists until bonded to new home (eg breaking through mosquito netting screens and forcing sliding doors / windows open. Use dowell in tracks & spray bottles at doors). Be extra vigilant!
