Help please! I found a senior dog walking along side the road in front of Rural Metro Fire station no.27 just off Strawberry Plains exit, heading towards John Sevier in Knoxville, TN. I found her in the pouring rain, staggering when walking, very visibly weak. She is in desperate need of vet care and a placement/rescue. We’ve bathed, fed, and given this sweet girl a place to rest comfortably until we can find a place for her to go! She is incredibly sweet but clearly malnourished and has been through a lot. Here are her notable medical concerns that need immediate attention: Mobility/Leg Issues: She is actively limping. On one of her legs, she has a very large, heavily thickened, wrinkled mass/pressure callus near the joint that will need to be evaluated by a vet. Skin/Facial Wear: She has a prominent, completely hairless pink patch right on the bridge of her nose (resembling heavy scraping or "crate nose" from trying to escape or forage), along with redness and wear on the tips of her ears consistent with fly strikes, fleas, or running through heavy brush. Condition: She is significantly malnourished, weak, and shows clear signs of neglect or being lost for a long time. I would absolutely love to nurse her back to health myself, but I already have too many dogs and simply do not have the capacity, space, or financial resources to take on a senior medical case right now. Could you please direct me to a reputable local rescue or cross-post her to the group to help me find a Good Samaritan or rescue group who can take over her veterinary care? I want to make sure she gets the medical assessment she needs without being immediately euthanized due to shelter overcrowding.
