If your doggie’s microchipped, make sure to notify the chip company. Try putting out some of their bedding or your recently worn clothes, maybe a favorite toy, so the familiar scent might attract them. Also, walk around the neighborhood periodically to leave a scent trail your doggie can follow. You might set out a dish of water near your home, so they might smell it and come to drink. It helps to put up some large posters, with print large enough to be read from a passing car.
