How to find a lost cat. Watch the video, then read the comments below for more helpful hints. https://youtu.be/g2eCoC63B9I Things to do if you've lost a cat (some may apply to your situation): 1. Check all closets, cabinets, under beds and furniture. 2. If you are certain your cat is no where sleeping in your house, put out unwashed laundry with your scent near your door. Turn the socks you are wearing inside out and place high (tree, etc.) so your cat smells your scent. 3. If you have a garage, leave the garage door open slightly or some way back inside if possible. 4. If you can safely leave a door or window open while you’re home (no other pets), sometimes cats will return on their own. They are usually only a few houses away from home. 5. Check under bushes and cars with flashlight early in the morning and at night. Look up in the trees. 6. Rattle treat bag or dry kibble. Kitty is probably close by. They usually only travel 3 or 4 houses away. 7. Call for kitty at dusk and dawn, and/or usual mealtimes. Spend as much time searching. 8. Ask your neighbors to check garages and sheds or ask if you can check. 9. Check all your closets, garage, under beds and furniture, pantry, behind sheds, etc. 10. Make giant neon posters. 11. Cross post to other Lost & Found sites. Post on Nextdoor.com. 12. Check SD Humane sdhumane.org Animal Control, Pawboost, Craigslist (beware of scammers) and other on line pet sites. 13. Ask neighbors if they’ve seen your cat on their ring doorbell. 14. Put water out. 15. Post on Nextdoor. 16. File a Lost Pet Report with the San Diego Humane Society sdhumane.org Keep looking. Don’t give up and don’t depend on others. Good luck! 🌻

Sad seeing so many kitties call missing just this week. Poor baby, she must be so scared, cold and hungry out on her own. She’s particularly vulnerable being just a kitten outside. When a cat goes missing, they can’t easily find their way home using only their scent. You must be proactive and look for them. Look under yours & your neighbor’s bushes & hedges, look for glowing eyes w/flashlight, call her early evening when it’s quiet and they come out from hiding to eat. Posting is important, but please search for her, too. They don’t go far 3-4 houses away, they stay in one place until they are scared off by dogs, coyotes, or loud equipment. The challenge is to find her before she gets any further away. Please hang flyers near the area where she went missing, it’ll get the immediate attention from pedestrians and drivers. Good luck finding this adorable little girl -this is coyote country. You’re the one that can bring her home safely, she will recognize your voice and your scent.
