Is anyone here also a member of Naglee Park online group I should know about? *** Did you lose your kitten in Naglee Park? We found this beautiful and friendly girl two nights ago on a late night walk. It wasn’t planned, of course, but as soon as we got near her she came right out and called to us. She was very friendly and social, so not feral at all, but in obvious distress, and wouldn’t leave us when we continued towards Walgreens to try and find her some food. We wondered where her owner/s were and if she had been abandoned. Unfortunately Walgreens had just closed, so we had to turn home to make sure she was okay and had food. She then followed us five blocks and across multiple intersections, even though she was afraid of all of the cars. This told us she was very brave and likely very hungry for following us through each successive road crossing. She was absolutely ravenous when we fed her. We housed her overnight. The next day SJ Animal Care Center turned us away because they had already filled up their appointments for TNRs. Not having a chip reader, my wife and I took her into SJ Animal Care Center again this morning at 5:30AM to get her checked out and fixed if she hadn’t gotten fixed already. We found out at 5PM that they didn’t do anything to her because there was a chip and evidence of a surgical scar there. We have her now safe at home in our bathroom, separate from our cats because we don’t know if she has any diseases and is covered in fleas, and will release her to the shelter as a stray if we don’t locate the owner. We would hate to do that because the reports about the admin and conditions for animals at the shelter has been awful. If this is your cat, please reach out to me.

We have confirmed she has an owner and that the chip is registered with AKC reunite. Now we await the owner, who apparently lives in Sunnyvale.

Where should we take her?

At the moment, this cat is not ours to adopt out to someone else. But I just learned that after a time of being unclaimed her chip may be transferred to a new owner.

I’ve heard about that. Is there an alternative to sending the cat back to the shelter? They don’t have space or staff to care for them anyway so how can they take these cats? Can we get the cat adopted out ourselves?

There have been reports of neglect at our shelter. A “stray hold” there is an option but not a great one in our opinion.

What are the alternatives to returning to the shelter?

Hi, I’d like to edit this post. Instead of Naglee Park I was mistaken, we found her in Northside. *** Did you lose your kitten in Northside?
