A month I ago I bumped into this Asian girl who was looking for her husky puppy across Proper Foods at 535 Mission Street (the financial district). Today I saw a guy walking a husky that doesn’t seem to belong to him as the dog wouldn’t listen to him, and he would just lie down outside the same Proper Foods where I saw the Asian girl, and he refused to leave. I asked how the guy got the dog he said he rescued him not long ago and would not respond to my follow up questions. If the Asian girl happens to see this post, hopefully it helps. I’m not sure if the husky is your lost pet but I think it doesn’t hurt to try, it’s devastating to lost a dog.

Terry Koenig I guess I’ve learned from the over criminalization of Black men that a blurry picture of a Black man from the back is dangerous for all Black men. You can’t know who this is. I know I couldn’t identify this man if I saw him in the TL and I work with many of these people personally. I’m saying you could handle this situation differently with different language that would achieve the same result. I realize purebred dog theft is an issue (I mean I get my cats from the shelter because I don’t want to support breeding but whatever I don’t want anyone to lose their fur babies once they have them) but the criminalization of Black men is a bigger issue. We can agree to disagree but my clients are important to me so I’m going to speak up when I see something that is dangerous to them - as it sounds like you are doing for yours.

Colleen McCarthy seriously? That is a husky. I show dogs. I am guessing on the guy . But am likely right. Point is , purebred dog theft is rampant and, sadly, many are sold to dog fighting groups or abused. If there is a chance this dog is the lost one, its worth the owner checking it. If its her dog it will be obvious.

Terry Koenig you are positive this is a purebread from the picture? The post didn’t say purebread.I mean I had a client with a dog that looked just like this the dogs whole life. How do you know this guy is poor from looking at his back?

Colleen McCarthy likelihood of a poor guy having a purebred is possible but low. This may be a chance for the woman to get her dog back. If its not hers, no harm done

As a social worker who works in this area, I have many clients with huskies who have had them for years and didn’t steal them. Let’s not assume he’s guilty or just any black man with a husky puppy has stolen it. It can hurt if my clients are criminalized for just having the same breed of dog.

I saw a husky at night around here tenderloin where I live that they were walking a dark guy at night and I saw that he was mistreating him and I was going to talk to him but he was dragging the puppy
