Jennifer J Janzen - Luxury Real Estate Specialist, I hope she is found soon. I used flyers when ours escaped. I was waiting downstairs for him, but he came back to the 2nd story window he escaped from after over 24 hours. Lured him back with treats & I kept meowing at him. I felt goofy, but it worked. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡

Donโ€™t lose hope. Sheโ€™s probably really close by. These types of kitties are really smart and resilient. Sheโ€™s most likely hiding in a neighborโ€™s yard. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Knock on neighbours doors and put out flyers everywhere. Do offer rewards. Also go out in the night. You can hear him better then. Check the pounds too. Airtags on collars help greatly.

If Your cat is an indoor cat, it is most likely going to be very near the spot where it exited and in hiding. Most indoor only cats are found within 2.5 houses of the house they escaped from. Indoor only cats will be hiding out during the day and typically come out at night when it's dark and quiet as they feel more safe. The best thing to do is to talk to neighbors during the day to see if they have seen your cat. Do not rely on social media. The best way to find your cat is on foot by talking to people during the day and looking outside very LATE at night. See if your neighbors can leave their garages and sheds open for a few hours. If your cat is inside, your cat may not come out right away once the doors are opened. This is because when cats are in survival mode, they typically do not act normal. You can also print mini flyers and attach them to your neighbors' doors if they are not home. You can use painter's tape so that it is easy for the homeowner to remove. Offer a reward even if it's a small amount. It incentivizes people & neighborhood kids to look. Post neon signs/posters. Talk to your mail carrier. Post on Nextdoor & Ring App. It alerts neighbors in a 2-3 mile radius. You do not need to own a ring camera to post on the Ring app. Please make sure that your cat has a way to get back into your house 24/7. You want to leave open a garage door (including the door that goes from the garage into the house) sliding glass door, or window that they exited from as well as some of your recently worn clothing and/or shoes outside of the entry way. Your scent will attract your cat back to you. ***Do NOT put your cat's litter box outside as it can attract predators.*** It's VERY important that you look for your cat late at night. Between 11pm to 5am are ideal times to find a missing indoor only cat. 3 AM is the best time to find a cat as this is the time they become most active and responsive. Shake a bag of their favorite treats while CALMLY talking (in a normal voice) to your cat. Make sure that you pause after calling to see if you can hear your cat meowing. Use a flashlight and look for the glow of their eyes. Check up trees as well. Indoor only cats are very frightened outdoors and will only come out when they feel safe. You may have to trap your cat as they will be in survival mode (sometimes they start acting a bit feral) and will not act the same way that they do in the house. Time is of the essence. Cats donโ€™t go far from home. Donโ€™t wait for social media to bring your cat home, you need to be proactive. Leave the door/window the kitty exited from open 24/7. If unable, then crack garage door open 24/7 enough to get in. Hang worn clothes and/or your pillow case in a tree or on top of shrubs to create a scent trail. Knock on neighbors doors with a picture asking them to keep an eye out. See if they can check Ring cameras for any sighting. Post signs with kittyโ€™s picture as many as possible, include surrounding neighborhoods. Go out late at night with a flashlight, shaking a bag of food, calling kittyโ€™s name, looking under shrubs for their shining eyes. Post on Ring, Nextdoor and check shelters. Donโ€™t give up. ๐Ÿ’•

Late at night or very early in the morning, go outside with a flashlight and search under vegetation while calling your cat. Their eyes reflect the light. Please have your neighbors check their garages, sheds and vegetation. Place pieces of your unwashed clothing on your porch. Open your garage door or a window just enough for your cat to slide underneath. Go to your animal shelter to check for your cat/file a missing report.
