Message from Owner

Our 4 yr old gray cat Ash (we call him Mr. Man, and he responds gleefully) escaped out of our 1st floor screen window at 10pm Monday night, 6/15/26. Located on 76th Ave in Glen Oaks, Bellerose NY, he was last spotted via a neighbor’s Ring doorbell camera @2:45am the next morning approaching their door, with his signature bow tie collar still intact, but no sightings since. Because all of the townhouses around Glen Oaks look the same, we do believe he may be confused in trying to find his home again. If anyone in the area who has a Ring doorbell camera please check their notifications at night in the Glen Oaks area around 76th Ave and 77 Crescent, it would be immensely helpful. He is missed and loved so very dearly. We have been looking every night at all hours hoping to spot him somewhere, and we are hoping and praying that not only is he ok, but that he didn’t venture too far away from the Glen Oaks community, or go near Union Tpke or Commonwealth Blvd, which we dreadfully fear.

First put out a big bowl of water. Then, dFirst put out a big bowl of water. Then, did you try the kitty litter trick? Take some litter from their box and sprinkle outside leading to your door then call them constantly especially at dawn and dusk and when it's quiet. Kitty will follow its scent and your voice home. It's no doubt scared and hiding. You can also try a stinky can of sardines! Or if kitty is a cuddler, try putting an article of your clothing by your door. Also check area garages, under car hoods, shelters, Nextdoor and Pawboost for found kitties in and near your zip. Don’t give up. And post flyers around your neighborhood. Good luck! And please keep your kitty inside if you let it out!! Between coyotes, diseases, bad actors and cars, there are so many ways harm can come to them. Finally, if your kitty isn’t fixed, please spay/neuter!

Drag scent trails… He may be hiding under a porch, a shed, or a car, behind bushes, or in a wooded area. Go out late at night with a flashlight that might reflect against his eyes, and call him gently. Or shake a bag of treats, sometimes better than your voice to attract a cat that’s scared. Create scent trails on the grass and ground leading up to your home (or to a trap, ideally monitored with a trail cam, so you can respond quickly when the cat is in the trap). Get a towel and rub it with your dirty laundry, blankets, socks, or anything else with the scent of home. (Do not use kitty litter.) Tie a rope to the towel and drag it from the areas where you think the cat might be, creating scent trails leading to your house (or the trap). You won’t smell the scent on the towel or the ground, but the cat will. (If you use a trap, load it with a little cat food, chicken or tuna, enough to attract the cat from the trail that leads up to it. Rely on the scent trails to get your cat to the trap.) Rain and snow will wash away the scent trails, so you’ll have to drag again afterwards. Also, renew the trails every couple days. Try to remain patient and hopeful. Some cats only show up after many days or even weeks. Important: . Never leave a trap unattended, always keep an eye on it, checking it every 1/2 hour in person or with a trail cam. Position the trap close to where the cat escaped or was last seen. . Trail cam photos and videos are marked with time stamps, helpful to know if and when the cat shows up but doesn’t go into the trap. . Post flyers in the area with a picture of your cat and your contact information. . Even if you don’t have a trap or a trail cam, scent trails leading to your home can work.
