Feliz is home thanks to everyone who helped and her “home again” microchip! We are overjoyed to have her back after 373 days !!! She has adjusted back VERY well and has been bathed and cleaned and a full check up with a bill of good health!

Not a good photo. Saw this dark orange cat feeding at my feral cat colony on Monticello Ave ( near Perrymont ave) in San Jose. Yesterday there were 2 orange cats. Light yellow is a boy who has been around for a few months. This dark orange kitty is new to the area.

Search outside very late at night with a flashlight. He’s probably hunkered down under a car or bush. The light will make his eyes glow like neon lights. Check near any fences. If you can leave the door opened just wide enough for him to slip in. Have some food inside and watch the door so you can shut it behind him. This usually happens about midnight or later.

So sorry. Leave his toys, blanket or any belongings outside. Use Ring app, the door bell and Next door to notify your neighbors. Drive around looking in the shady areas and posters help. Sometimes cats come back after a while. Good luck.

Please read the advice shared on the Missing Animal Response Network. They have a page specific to lost cat behavior. https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ Next, If you have not already, visit neighboring homes (don't rely upon their reading a post), ask them to look into their garages and outbuildings, checking multiple times while sitting patiently, and quietly. Cats get scared when in strange places and won't necessarily bolt for the door when it is opened, and might not even run to their person if they happen to be present. Check every logical and illogical place your cat may have gotten into in your home or on your property, to name just a few: cabinets/drawers (high and low; in garages/bats/sheds too!), closets, box springs/sofa liners (they make nice hammocks), under/behind cushions... Don’t forget to check in with local vets and animal shelters. Some have had success with placing a humane trap in their backyard - luring kitty in with a serving of their regular food. Finally, for any reading this, please keep a bowl of water (ideally freshened every 2-3 days) in your garages/outbuildings for those instances when a neighborhood critter happens to find themselves trapped.
