So sorry your kitty is missing! Kitty is likely scared and hiding close by, especially if an indoor-only cat. WHAT YOU CAN DO: Leave food and water nearby. Also place a protected large container shelter with unwashed towel/blanket inside, protected from wind and rain. A little used litter could also betered nearby. SEARCH OFTEN AND THOROUGHLY---under parked cars, down alleyways, in neighbors' yards, under shrubs/piles of debris, up trees, under porches, near dumpsters. Check for open bat doors and broken windows in homes, bldgs, garages, sheds. Take a flashlight, carrier, and treats/favorite food with you when searching. Call out to kitty and listen carefully. Find out if anyone around your block feeds stray cats. Ask neighbors to check their properties (front, back, bats) and to text you immediately if they see kitty. Distribute door-to-door & post bold flyers with photo, location, contact info & date around your block, along streets, and with local businesses and area vets. Never chase after a lost or stray cat. They should be carefully coaxed to you, if possible. REPORTING TO SHELTERS and ON SOCIAL MEDIA: File a report with Phila Animal Control shelter: http://www.acctphilly.org/lostpet/lostreport/) ASAP and post on their fb page: https://www.facebook.com/LostAndFoundPhilly. If kitty has a microchip ID contact your microchip company to report lost, and confirm/update your contact info. Post on social media: WestPhillyCats (https://www.facebook.com/groups/westphillycats/), PawBoost.com, NextDoor.com, Craigslist lost&found. Email a flyer to PhillyPAWS shelter: gfclinic@phillypaws.org. Consider borrowing a humane trap from Project MEOW (in W.Philly: rfa@projectmeow.org). Search for kitty as often as possible throughout the day. Be proactive and be patient; it can take days or longer to locate kitty. Keep social media sites up to date with your progress. Hoping you find kitty soon!
