Missing Cat Trinway, OH: this is Biscuit, he went missing 10/4, last seen in Trinway, OH at the intersection of 3rd Ave and 3rd St. He is incredible sweet and affectionate, super fluffy and gentle. We just moved to the area on 9/12, and he was unexpectedly let out by my kids. We were trying to keep him in until he acclimated to the new hse, but he’s always been an indoor/outdoor cat so it was second nature to just let him out when he meowed at the door. He is known to roam for a day or two before coming home, but it’s been too many days to not worry. Please if anyone has seen him message me or text my husband Glynn at or Sarah at with any info ❤️ I have some heartbroken kids hoping for the return of their fluffy Biscuit.

The ideas I’m sharing are from a study of 1,232 lost cats by Dr. Jacquline Rand, an animal expert. The number one method that was the most successful in recovering a missing cat was conducting a physical search of the area. If your cat knows the area and is comfortable outside, it would be considered an Indoor/Outdoor cat. They may go further away (17-house radius). Since your cat just moved to the area, it would probably be considered an indoor cat. It does not know the surrounding area. It probably is hiding nearby and is in survival mode. There is a chance that he may have been scared away by an another cat or predator, or could be accidentally stuck somewhere. Start with the homes that are close by. However, you may need to expand the search area. Get to know your neighbors by showing them a photo and giving them your contact information. Asking neighbors to look for your cat can be tricky. They will say yes, but often they are unable or unwilling to do a deep search. Most people will let you know if they see the cat. However, many people are unable to get down on the ground and look under a deck or automobile. They will go into a shed, but may not be able or willing to move items and do a deep search. Take a flyer with information and ask the neighbors in the surrounding homes if YOU can search under their deck or in their garage, or do it together. That is where they are most likely to be . Obtaining permission from your neighbor to search their property is critical. One lost cat owner got permission from the neighbors to do a search on their property in the early morning hours (3 to 5 AM is a key time) and late at night. They also contacted the police to let them know they were doing a search. Good idea! They found their cat in the bushes near their neighbor’s driveway. Search during the day, and then again during quiet time when your cat may come out. Look in window wells, drainage pipes, sheds, under decks, under automobiles, next to air conditioners, in bushes and in trees. Use a friendly voice, not a loud threatening voice. Search every day. There have been a couple of recent postings from pet owners who found their cat in a drainage ditch , and one found them up a tree. If you have other animals, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. Owners often see their cat on the property late at night or in the early hours. Many have reported their cat actually came up onto their porch, but were unable to get back in. If it is safe, leave a garage door or entry door partially open. Ask neighbors to check their Ring camera. IMPORTANT: Trapping is a very successful way to find your cat. Some rescue organizations will rent or let you borrow humane traps . There are some good YouTube videos on how to trap your cat. Biscuit will be seeking food. A trap could lure him in. It is getting cold, so you need to frequently check the trap. There are some good videos on YouTube that show you what to do. Note: DO NOT put a litter box or food out. Cats instinctively cover up their waste to protect themselves . The litter box and food will attract predators and Tomcats that could chase your cat further away from home. Place some dirty socks, clothing, and pillow cases etc. with your scent on them outside, near where they exited. YOUR scent will attract your kitty. Refresh the items every day to keep the smell strong. Again, don’t put food, or items with your cat’s smell on them out. You don’t want other cats coming around. Some people don’t go on social media. Post a large sign in your yard ,or in a common area. Make it the size of a Political or Realty sign. LOST CAT LIVES HERE ! PLEASE HELP! Include a photo or description and contact information. Bicycle riders, runners, walkers, delivery people etc. will see the poster. When I was growing up, we lost our cat during a move. We found it back at our original home a couple of miles away. Leave information with your old neighbors if this is a possibility. Contact local shelters, the Humane Society, pet care businesses, and groomers. Get on every pet loss group that you can. Ask your mail carrier, neighborhood workers and delivery people to be on the lookout. I hope your cat is home soon. Stay strong ❤️
